So, as it turns out, Coste was outmatched whenever he got up to bat. He seemed stumped by the fastball and did nothing more than pop it up.

I felt kind of sad for him but the WS is for the ones who can keep up in the MLB.

I was just about to purchase Coste’s book too. I’ve been a fan of him for a bit now. I feel like i get to know the players better in my PSP than in real life. (MLB the Show)

i did not know Werth can catch too.

Here we go again with the Taguchi thing. Look, Coste is the DH which is the right move for tonight. If, for any reason, Ruiz get hurt and the backup catcher issue is raised, remember…….Werth can catch if needed. So everybody just needs to relax and trust this decision. I’m not a huge Taguchi fan and the first time he’s asked to sacrifice a runner and can’t do it I’m not gonna be real happy and probably be calling for Charlie’s head. But let’s just wait and see how this all plays out before we jump to all kinds of conclusions.

I agree.

Phillies have some great hitting pitchers, like Myers. If you are in the AL you don’t get a chance to see someone like Myers Bat.

I think the DH sucks… baseball players should be able to play Baseball… David Ortiz can hit the ball thats great.. he can’t field worth a damn though, so overall he’s really not that good a baseball player.

I think the DH takes so much strategy out of the game too..

I’ve been feeling Coste all along. He wants so badly to help this team out and he will finally get his chance. The guy has been too much a part of this team the last two to three years not to take this opportunity and run with it. You watch, big hit by Coste tonight. Rays have no clue who this guy is and he just comes out swinging.

Which is why many of us thought that with Taguichi producing nothing, Marson should take the spot just in case. I think Coste as DH is absolutely the right move. I think the the chances of Coste needing to fill in for Ruiz is slim to none, but anything can happen. I think Coste will do something big tonight.

And Jeffrey, you’re right. I personally would’ve replaced Taguchi with Marson on the roster… but I’m not upset by Charlie’s decision because he’s earned my trust and respect. He knows what he’s doing.

Careful Jeffrey… you might be called a RETARD for such an anti-MVP-Marson statement!!!

But all kidding aside.. the coaching staff knows so much more than we do.. They’ve thought long and hard about this and trust Coste against Kazmir tonight.

Just say.. for any national league team… Catcher gets hurt, Backup catcher was the DH.. now moves to C-spot, but still hits in the same spot in the order. Pitcher must now hit for himself, in the spot that was vacated in the batting order, unless you pinch-hit for pitcher… but at that point the lineup will still have a pitcher batting for the remainder of the game in some spot in the lineup?

Im still not 100% sure about this..

Chutley, I beg to disagree. The Rays have experience? No. And they’re also in the WS. Experience works when you can swing the bat.

Just look at McCain, he has a lot of experience but doesn’t know a thing about the economy. Suddenly, experience becomes useless.

–Yet I still hope Taguchi gets a good AB and shuts me up.

I don’t have a problem with this. The chance of Ruiz getting seriously injured is lower than the chance Coste does more at the plate than Bruntlett or Taguchi.

I’m also not on the Marson-in-the-World Series bandwagon after four major league at bats, all of which came in one game against the dregs of the Nats pitching staff.

Sometimes, I think we fans need to trust a little more that Cholly and his staff know their players better than we do.

Im not to happy about not having Marson up for this. Taguchi is useless to us, and we could use the extra catcher.
