The Phillies would not have made the playoffs if it wasn't for Lidge. He was the most valuable player to the Phillies and maybe one of the most valuable to any team this year. 79-0 in the regular season when leading after 8 is unbelievable and he's one of the reasons that was able to happen.

Miner…it’s not far fetched to say he should be the MVP of the NL. I truly believe that without Lidge,no playoffs would be possible.I'm sure all of you feel the same.
Take any other player from the team and there is still a chance ,but Lidge was irreplacable this year.

I havent been writing in to this blog lately…..just enjoying my Phils beat up on the Rays..Cant believe this is actually happening…<br

We might see a change in teams going out and giving starting pitchers long term big deals. Pitchers are fragile and teams get burn. The phillies have show teams that if you can get starters to give you 6 or 7 innings and under 4 runs. with a great bullpen you can win and the bullpen guys can be guys who are former starter. who stuff isn't top notch for nine innings but for one or two they can dominate.A lot of starters who pitch after the first time aroung start to get hit so a guy like durbin and matson are more valuable for one inning or two at the most go in throw your best and get out.

I believe that if the phillies win the series. It's interesting what was said in the first meeting between Lidge and Gillick/Amaro Jn/Charlie, goes a long way when a player feels wanted.

It took him time to shake off the Pujols bomb and the Astros seemed to treat him like the black sheep. All we heard during the offseason was that he was not the same after that Pujols home run. Everyone should have given Brad a little more credit than that. Great job Lidge.

Props to Brad, this shows how mentally tough these players are. I really want it for him but I can't take a close one.

I really hope that Lidge gets the opportunity to close it out with a 7-run lead tonight.
