If Brett is going to be a big-time hitter now he is going to have to shed a few pounds before next season so he can get around the bases faster and have more stamina when he pitches.

well manny and uncle cholly have the history, he managed him in cleveland… so i think there is a mutual respect there
howards output so far is worrisome to say the least, but lets face it, he’s a pure hitter who is simply not getting any pitches, i think they said last night that so far this series he’s gotten ONE fastball, everything else breaking balls… he’s getting frustrated but i think that after last nights team performance he will see some better pitches, the key is to get guys on ahead of him and let him face nothing but sliders in BP so he can see the spin better…
this team is playing to win and i cant wait to see them back up our ’100 year old softball pitcher’ !!! lets go phils!

I most definitely agree with that guy regarding Manny’s batting helmet, it looks like someone puked on it months ago and now it’s just caked on there-ugh!

Did anyone see that still shot of Charlie and Manny before the game? It was taken from behind them, they had their arms around each other, looked like Manny was consoling him. I think Charlie is one of those rare people who tries to find and embrace the good side of others, even Manny, apparently.

Like this somewhat sarcastic review of the game in the Detroit News this morning from our sportswriter Tom Gage:

Mike – Rollins was poor last night but he made a big impact on the Brewers series. I suppose the upside to Howard’s non-performance this post season is how the lower order guys have come through especially Ruiz.

I really agree about Howard, Craig. This guy is practically doing nothing to help his team at the plate. Rollins was not much better either on Friday.

i work valet at marriott downtown. the mlb.com guys who are covering the nlcs games are staying at the hotel, and ive gotten the chance to chat with them. the one is from la, big fan of the blue, obviously. today he was ranting about Billingsley being lights out, sending myers to an early shower, manny show blah blah. cant wait to lay it on him saturday morning.

he also got to ask manny about his moon shot double in game one. manny replied that he needs to play the angles better. god, i almost puked watching the ball bank off the small fence. for an instant i was sure it was landing in the greenage.

Dobbs, it doesn’t matter… they pick each other up. They may not have the individual nicknames but the yoeman’s work gets done ….. It’s beautiful!!!!
