Game 2 : National League Division Series
Phillies lead 1-0
Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies
Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
6 p.m. / 63, sunny
CC Sabathia (17-10, 2.70 ERA) vs. Brett Myers (10-13, 4.55 ERA)
With a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five NLDS, the Phillies now have to face Brewers ace CC Sabathia, owner of the league’s best ERA since the All-Star break. He went 11-2 down the stretch for Milwaukee, including two straight wins on three-days rest. He’s on three-days rest again tonight.
Brett Myers toes the rubber for the Phils. He also had a big second half, going 7-4 with a 3.06 ERA after a demotion to the minor leagues.
News & Notes
Sabathia has only faced the Phillies twice, and was struck for seven runs in 12.2 innings. … Myers threw a complete game to defeat the Brewers Sept. 14. … No Brewer hitter has hit well against Myers. JJ Hardy is a career 0-for-10 hitter against him.
The Lineup
Jimmy Rollins / SS
Chase Utley / 2B
Jayson Werth / RF
Ryan Howard / 1B
Pat Burrell / LF
Shane Victorino / CF
Pedro Feliz / 3B
Chris Coste / C
Brett Myers / P
Your Gameday Beer
With two pudgy guys on the hill tonight, I’m recommending Guinness. Good, old fashioned Guinness. It’s a tasty beer, for sure, and won’t kill ya. But make sure, if you have one, to pour it into a stout glass. It’s the only way to drink one. As a note: I’ll be sitting in section 303 for this one. Here’s hoping Brett does his thing against Milwaukee, and our boys can get a hit (or run) or two against CC.
Go Phillies!

Beautiful out – Meyers has cost CC 19 pitches so far tonight. CC’s irritated by it, too.

Right – idiot announcer calling CC’s night a matter of “just a few bad pitches” and then a moment later “six extra-base hits”

When Vic’s being intentionally walked you know you’ve reached the point in the series you have the upper hand. Go Phils!

Hey, they chased him out of the game and that’s 5 innings of Brewers bullpen now.
I know it’s been said a lot, but the Brew Crew look a lot like us last year.

Meyers is getting it done tonight, too. Not like King Cole, but he’s getting ahead of most of the batters and keeping the bases empty.

All I know is I’m stoked at this team’s playoff chances this year. I seriously think that if we close the deal on this tonight, we’ve got the series, and we absolutely will have a decent chance of advancing to the World Series if the hitting and pitching keep up. It’s exciting to see – it’s like we traveled back to 1993! Break out the mullets and roids!
