Game 3 : National League Division Series
Phillies lead 2-0
Philadelphia Phillies at Milwaukee Brewers
Miller Park, Milwaukee
6:30 p.m. / 60, fair
Jamie Moyer (16-7, 3.71 ERA) vs. Dave Bush (9-10, 4.18 ERA)
The Phillies can move to the National League Championship Series with a win tonight against the Brewers. Stoked to a two-game lead, the Phils turn to veteran Jamie Moyer. The 45-year-old southpaw is the second 16-game winner over 45 in baseball history. In two starts against the Brewers, he totaled a 3.09 ERA.
Dave Bush, a Conestoga High graduate (it’s Conestoga vs. Souderton tonight), is an all-pitches right-hander who is either good, or not so good. The Phils make their fourth visit to Miller Park. They were 1-1 there earlier in the season.
News & Notes
Of Brewers big bats, Bill Hall is .625 career against Moyer, and Rickie Weeks is .429. … Greg Dobbs, not starting, is hitting .462 against Bush for his career. … Jayson Werth is back in the two-hole tonight, despite Shane Victorino lacing a grand slam from that position Thursday night. … The Phillies can be the first team to clinch an LCS berth.
The Lineup
Jimmy Rollins / SS
Jayson Werth / RF
Chase Utley / 2B
Ryan Howard / 1B

Your Gamenight Beer
It’s a cool October evening, and it’s time to shut the door on the Brewers. Sip a Harvest Moon from the guys who give you Blue Moon. A spicy and robust fall tale, this will be fun to sip in bunches tonight, because it may get you tipsy by … hopefully … celebration time. Enjoy this with a large helping of nachos. Delicious stuff.
Go Phillies!

Now why can’t our hitters do that?

Why would Uncle Chalie put Werth back in the 2-hole after the game Victorino had Thursday? If nothing else, Victorino showed he was a spark-plug.

don’t be too hard on the guy, if we loose this game it won’t be for Condrey so much as the bats not having a good game.

I’m not going to sit here ad blame Rungie for handing the brewers a lead (he did) but the Phillies have had their chances. No walks by Brewer pitchers and no clutch hits by the Phils.
Its like ’92 and some schmoe named Sveum at the plate. 24-for-135 and a .178 average.

I agree NJ Says, but the relief pitcher have to be able to shut guys down if the bats aren’t clicking. It is scary to think how good the Phillies could be if they could hit consistently.

Looks like Cholly’s lineup shift is paying off. Nice page from the LaRussa book of Overmanaging.

I agree when the game is on the line you have to expect your relievers to shut the door but 3 down early you have to chance your arm with your longman and hope for a break.

the game isin’t over yet. this team has shown on many occasions that they can come back from 3-4 runs down.

Well, terrible job by Manuel to leave Eyre out there to get destroyed by righties. Shitty night all the way around. It’s up to Blanton tomorrow or else CC can get his revenge in game 5

I just want to see a threat of more then 1 base runner next inning. Any threat they’ve had has only been 1 runner.

i’ll admit it doesn’t look good though, especially since Utley and Howard have decided to take another playoff series off.

if the phillies knew how to play small-ball the game would be tied, or 4-3 at worst right now.

We gotta hit and take some pressure off the pitchers. Can’t blame the BP. They’d be more relaxed if there were some runs on the board.
I had some friends over for dinner so I couldn’t really watch much til Eyre’s last inning. My friends are like – “the Phillies are in the playoffs?” ummm..yaaaa.. Its all Uof M for them…

damn it chase….all three of them. eric gagne left a ton of garbage over the plate. mid-80s home run balls and nobody took advantage. up to this point, this has been one of their worst hitting performances of the entire season. dave bush is GARBAGE and he shut them down. this is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
unless salomon torres hacks it up here (highly possible) then they will have to send blanton out there tomorrow. PLEASE, at least rough up jeff suppan if they have to. if they cant beat either bush or suppan then they might as well just forget about it. those guys suck.
ok…at least make torres work for this save.

Yea, if we have to face CC on full rest in Game 5, I’m going to have to be so drunk. I won’t be able to handle that pressure.
