The Sox are not the same without Manny. They clearly had to get rid of him but the guy is a hitting machine (as long as he doesnt refuse to play). I am actually a Yankees fan but they were eliminated so early this year (they stopped trying to build team chemistry and just started buying expensive player – that never works), I have been watching almost ever team the second half of the year. If I were the Phillies I would bat Howard in-front of Utley against the rays.As for Pat Burrell , he is the one player I would really want on the Phillies lineup, but he is 32 so giving him a long term deal would not be wise.

Didn’t the Red Sox come back last year against the Indians down 3-1 in the ALCS?

Now, Tampa has been all over Boston this series and they are familiar foes who see each other often, so it does favor heavily in Tampa’s favor.

But as Philly fans, we know for sure that nothing is ever a lock until it is official.

Devil Rays fan…..Phils are already in the Fall Classic.Now eventho your team is up 3-1 vs the BoSox,its not a virtual lock that the BoSox are going to lose.If you look back to 2004,they beat the Yankees 3 straight to win the AL Pennant.It has happened.Now am I saying the Devil Rays are a bad and flawed team?Not by any stretch.So Devil Rays fans,take it from me,Its not a guarantee that your team will win,but teams with nothing to lose come up big…..good luck tonight.

What kind of person comes on here and talks trash after we’ve been cheering for your team from the start? I guess you guys are right, there are fans in every population who are just bad.

That being said, if we play the Rays, I’m shaving a reverse mohawk with phillies P’s on the sides for the series!

This is ridiuclously addictive. I do a vast majority of my work from home doing video editing on the computer when I’m not on a shoot, so I’m here far more then I should be. My buddies and I were thinking about starting a Philly Fan Blog before I discovered here. I like having some form of an outlet to talk about the Phillies.

Chuck, I found this site a couple of months ago. I remember when I first opened the page and said outloud, “Oh my God, there’s all these people talking about the Phillies on here,” and when I saw that Tim did a blog for each game, well, needless to say I was pretty much orgasmic. Phillies Nation is definitely addictive though, it’s the first thing I check in the am, last thing before bed. Harmless addiction, thankfully.

Yeah I cried when Leslie Gudel interviewed Charlie last night. He is just a wonderful man and he SO deserves this. Rob, Georgie is right about all the concentrating and sleep, etc. I’m 50 and I am really having a hard time concentrating on work right now. Of course, it doesn’t help that this site is totally addictive.

Rob, it’s all good. I was in my 20′s when they won in 1980. For those few weeks it seems like there’s nothing else that matters. You can’t concentrate at work, sleeping is fitful, stomach in knots. For some reason the 1980 team and this team are the only ones that had this effect on me, so here’s hoping that’s a positive thing.

PS-I cried too when Charlie spoke, I have come to love and respect that guy, I think he more than anyone is the reason they are going to the WS. I also cried in the car today when I heard the replay of the last out.

I am in complete emotional disarray. I’m young, but I’ve always watched the Phillies. I’ve been with this team since April, through good and bad, as most of you can relate. This year feels different. The players attitude is perfect. This is an opportunity and they know it and at the very least, we should all be grateful that we can be a part of this. Seasons like this should be cherished and we should take everything we possibly can from such a moment. My congratulations to not only the 2008 Phillies, but to the consistent (often frustrated) support of Phillies phans and PhilliesNation.

Chuck, I agree. I was watching that game Tuesday, and the Rays were looking VERY scary, playing fearlessly. I actually thought to myself, maybe it would be better if they played the Sox.
