Phillies Duck It Up

David Murphy notes an unusual new mascot for the Phils during the World Series:
During the Phillies’ 2-hour workout at Tropicana Field yesterday, an unknown member of the club placed a rubber duck in the locker of each player. These weren’t your normal Bert-and-Ernie rubber ducks. Each one was uniquely colored, patterned with various designs. Designer rubber ducks. Jimmy Rollins’ duck sported what appeared to be a fake diamond.
The gist is Charlie Manuel mentioned something about playing tighter than a duck’s rear end. So, as a reminder to play loose, somebody gave everyone a personalized rubber duck.
Murphy closes out with this great catch phrase:
“See the duck. Be the duck.”
Hey Tampa Bay: Duck you.

I love it. Hope it sticks with the team for a while. I’m gonna find a rubber duck to keep with me the whole series. GO PHILS

And, Utley, the one we all think doesn’t take enough of a leadership role, is the one who started it all.
“Get the rubber duck out of your butt.”
Doesn’t sound like a native California phrase to me, but I like it. It shall now be a part of my vernacular. Awesome.

Who from NYC will be watching the game Saturday night out at Wogie’s or Town Tavern? Anywhere else?

Beth, Wogie’s would be fun, but its apparently impossable to get in. Only been to Town Tavern for Florida Gator games, but a few people from Philly have now mentioned that place, so I think it should be a good spot to go to.

I was worried that Wogie’s would be tough…Town Tavern’s a good alternative. I’ll be in my gray “Why Can’t Us” hoodie probably by 7 pm.

The ducks are the symbolic carriers of the Phillies across the swamp lands of Tampa, Fl. The yellow ones will increase the demeanor of our ranks and cause an uprising of which the likes haven’t been felt in 28 years. Bats will be use as oars to steer our duck’s course. And tall man will sit upright and pitch a barrage at the rays that try to crawl out of the water onto their duck’s back. Our wild ducks carry us and we protect our ducks. Duck, you’ve been warned Tampa.

I’ve never been to Town Tavern but may have to check it out since Wogie’s will be packed.

O yes, I will have one along with my Philhawk (a reverse mohawk which I will be sporting). Where do you go to find a rubber duck anyway?
