I hate doing things the Yankees do, LOL but I am all about using home grown talent. The Rays did it and it worked, the Yanks did it and it worked. The Mets spent all this money on people and you see where it got them – as did the Yankees in the 2000s. So I am all for building the team from within.

Heck, even if these guys move on, start building for a WS Championship in 2012-2013 so we have a contingency plan, like the Red Sox in 2004 and 2007.

Burrell’s numbers won’t be a breeze to replace, but he is essentially a 7-inning feast or famine player who, if he’s not on a tear, can actually be a liability at the plate for long stretches. My opinion is that he’s had his time here and now it’s time to move forward. The $11-13 million it would cost to keep him can be spent much more wisely.

I agree with Phillies Fan SC – keep building from within. Take a lesson from the ’90′s Yankees – they won with a homegrown core, then spent crazy money on big players and haven’t won a thing since.

You make great points. Maybe Werth just needs a season of being the starter under his belt. Let’s see what improvements he can make in the offseason.

With the Thome money freed up, Helms money freed and subtracting Gordon and Tagachi and Kris Benson’s money. I figured roughly around 15,725,000 dollars free, off the books for next season.

I see your points, but I respectfully PARTIALLY disagree on Golson (I spelled it wrong before). I do agree he is not ready. No argument there. I do believe though he has a lot of potential if he can make contact better. I think power is not needed (it only helps) for this ball club; but if he can make contact, with his speed he really can get on base. You may be right, he may never get to this point, and I am speaking IF he gets to this point.

We agree on Milton Bradley. I have seen him play; it comes down to asking price. We also agree on Eaton.

I also disagree about Werth. I think he is a good everyday player, but I will admit he is inconsistent. When he is hot though, he can hit lefties or righties. I think the lineup worked best with Victorino in the 2-spot. Werth just seemed to do better in the 7-hole.

I also think they need to lock up Hamels, Victorino, Howard (I forget when his contract expires), and yes – Kendrick. I may be in the minority here as well, but I think that trades and free agency actually hurts teams. I am all for locking players into teams – as it builds growth. Look at the 1980 team – they started building the core in 1972; and acquired as needed. Just my opinion… That will never happen.

Adam Dunn, is more of a defesive liabilty then Pat.

Milton Bradely, is a bigger head case, as bigger anger problems and more egotistically then Pat.

Manny is more immature then Pat, he beats up 64 year old Travel Secs. because he couldn’t get him any more tickets more his boys to watch his acting job for Boston.

Greg Golson, TJ Bohn, Chris Snelling none of these three are ready for the Majors.

Matt Holliday , the Rockies would want Carrassco, Marson, Donald, Golson, hell maybe either the whole Lehigh Valley, and Reading teams for him.

Pat should get a fair deal, 3 yrs about 36 million from the Phillies Front Office, and they have the money to spend I noticed no one mentioned two seasons of three million plus through the gates at the Bank plus concession and plus all of the Post-Season money, they have the money to spend David Montgomery needs to get the other owners to blow the dust off of their safes.

My only point that I was trying to make is between Golson and Slaydon, I would rather have Slaydon on the big club next year. Truth is, neither one of them is ready.
