And once I heard Tony Gwynn pick the Phillies over his son’s team, the Brewers.. it made me think that A) He really thinks the Phillies are legit (he picked the Rockies to beat us last year..)

or B) He’s picked them because if he picks right, he looks smart..but if he’s wrong, he’s happy anyway that his son’s team would advance

I kinda think that with Kruk.. if the Phillies win, he’ll be happy, and won’t care about being wrong.. if they lose.. well he picked the Dodgers so it gives him credability that way..

I really wouldn’t look too much into who the experts pick though.. cause the Cubs aren’t playing the Angels in the World Series this year, despite what all the experts knew!

They actaully show Moyers telling Ruiz to calm down, don’t worry about it…

Then they show a reply to show on PITCH-TRACK where the close-pitch was… instead of showing the borderline one that got everyone mad..TBS replay shows the 2nd pitch that was a foot off the plate, and the guys comment about how it wasn’t really that close…. a$$holes..

What are Seanez numbers against Manny over his career? That would certainly play some part in who makes the roster? Although, I think Happ is the guy to bring along if you’re concerned about a rain delay. It’s probably partially dependent on the weather forecast for Thursday and Friday.

Somebody commented either this post or last about Umps making calls for the Dodgers… I really can’t see that happening.. Its easier to do in basketball or football… but in baseball its either Ball-Strike, Fair-Foul, Safe-Out, etc… and most of the time the calls are obvious.. and because there is so much time in between each play, there would be major issues, and it would be too obvious if they were squeezing the Phillies at all..

I agree that Golson would be better out there as a pinch runner, but Taguchi provides experience and a good bat, and I know he’ll be needed against LA.

Taguchi is never seeing the field. Time to replace him too.

So I understand why they wouldn’t do it.. but sometimes a spark-plug is what your team needs.. I think they might be nervous about putting too much phaith in Golson after some of the mistakes Bourn made in key games for them before

Don M- I couldn’t agree more, if we pinch hit Stairs, Golson would be the ideal pinch runner to steal a base or two. Also, Taguchi’s bat isn’t much of an asset. Nothing better then to get a young gun like Golson some playoff experience even if it is just pinch running.

With a longer series it makes sense to replace Happ with Seanez. He is a vet who knows many of the Dodger hitters after having played with them. The only other scenerio I could think of is maybe keeping Happ, adding Seanez and dropping Taguchi and going with 12 pitchers. Taguchi is just taking up space anyway and if someone does get hurt I think you can make a move anyway. I guess we’ll find out by 10 am tomorrow, but one way or another Seanez should be active.

If they are confident that Blanton will continue to give them strong outings.. which I think he will at this point.. Happ can be sent down.

I’d like to see Golson instead of Taguchi too though.. because the chances of you needing a Taguchi pinch-hit are smaller than you needing a good baserunner to steal a bag, or score a run late in one of these games..
