Carrasco Pitching Well In Venezuela

From Rotoworld:
Carlos Carrasco picked up his first win of the (Venezuelan Winter League) season by allowing one run in five innings on Wednesday. He struck out five and walked none. The Phillies’ top pitching prospect has a 2.84 ERA in 19 innings to date.
Carrasco is expected to pitch well in Venezuela. I’d consider him, right now, a contender for the fifth-starter spot, along with JA Happ, Kyle Kendrick and — for posterity’s sake — Adam Eaton.

I look forward to the day when we never speak of Eaton again

Mentioning Adam Eaton used to make me want to puke. Knowing that he’s only under contract for one more year makes me smile.

Me too. Is it even appropriate to mention him in 2009 talk?

No way they sit 9 mil on the bench all season. We will see him at some point.

If Eaton was coming back he would have been with the Championship parade. I guess we could pass him through waivers after ST and see if he’ll accept playing in AAA but odds on he just walks.
We must remember how young Carrasco is and were in go great need to rush him up to the big league team, he could be that much better coming up aged 23 like most of the stud prospect pitchers that come through college now.

Adam Eaton should not even sniff the majors for at least one more year. I do like A LOT the option of having Happ, Carrasco, and Kendrick fighting for the fifth starter spot.

I’d package Happ and Kendrick up for Holliday or someone else. Then you have Carrasco waiting in the wings. Sign another starter. I’m all for Lowe. This team should blow up payroll to $150 million honestly.
Hamels
Lowe
Myers
Blanton
Moyer
Rollins
Victorino
Utley
Holliday
Howard
Werth
Feliz
Ruiz/Marson
pitcher
This team would never lose.

Careful what you wish for in balooning the payroll ….The Tigers let Jurgens, Miller, Infante, Durbin and some other no-names & prospects go over last winter to make a big splash with the pricey players and look what it got them. Now they’re stuck w/a horrible BP and several overpaid players who they can’t move.
Granted the Phils can’t sit still, but why try really hard to fix what’s not broken. I like Happ too much to trade him. I’m also for giving Kendrick another chance. Eaton……well, we can hope for miracles…
