I wouldn’t turn down Cruz but don’t see the D-Backs not tendering him and if he does become a Phil we’d end up seeing one of the relievers completely fall off the map like with what happened to Eyre with the Cubs.

Pretty standard and a lot of insiders thought Affeldt was in the top 3 of relievers. The Phils are going to have to see who doesn’t get tendered, we don’t need a set-up guy as the bullpens already set-up so it’s a case of the best available guy who won’t loose us a top draft pick.

Jeremy Affeldt just resigned with the Giants for 8 million 2 years. Doesn’t that set the market pretty high for decent bull pen help?

Cruz is better than Brocail or Springer but is still a type A free agent. I would like to have Cruz in the bullpen, hopefully he won’t be offered arbitration, although I doubt that would happen.

Juan Cruz is also the youngest of the three Free Agent Relievers the Phillies are looking at. Just a thought, I bet they will sign the oldest of the three seeing as how that seems to be what we do whether it be Rudy, Alfonseca, Rhodes or Mesa over the last three years we always go older guys. Hopefully the scouting and health of these guys we be scrutinized.
