The Phillies signed Scott Eyre to a one-year, $2M contract. There are also performance bonuses in the deal.

Eyre went 3-0 with an 1.88 ERA in 14.1 innings during the regular season with the Phillies, then recorded a 3.00 ERA in three innings during the postseason.

Pretty good deal. Welcome back, Scott.

Marlins MIGHT not be as strong as they were in 2008,than again…I have been proven wrong before….these trades are beeing made for the penny pinching purposes because the Marlins almost NEVER go to arbitration and had at least 10 players eligible…..don’t be shocked if Dan Uggla changes his address too.

Nice job by the Phils from office. Cheap signing, although we don’t know the particulars of the incentives. I still think it’s a nice deal, though, and probably isn’t more than $3 or $4 after all incentives.

Good to see Mr. Eyre will be back….

I just caught the end of an XM interview w/him the other day and it sounded like he was close to a deal.

He also talked about the other BP guys and how they want to stick together for 2009….except that Rudy may be looking to get back to California…something like that. Also, he mentioned the media overlooking Condrey’s very good 2008.

Yep, Clay wasn’t too bad. Eric seems like a good guy.

BTW – the incentives are probably just for hitting benchmarks like 60 appearances, etc. – $50 thousand each, something like that. I doubt it would get to $4Mil unless he won a CyYoung!

Nice, low-risk deal for the Phils. Marlins are a joke. They’ll be trading Hanley in two years.
