WE NEED SABATHIA #1 we need starting pitching it would be awesome tog et Sabathia but we don’t have th $$$$ the Skankees have. Sheets would be a good fit. Also we need a right handed left fielder. Jermaine Dye, Baldelli, Bradley they are all good.

I think we should let Werth bat 5th and go out and get a left handed hitting outfielder to hit at the back of the lineup and break up those righties.

Howard 15 ,Myers 12, Eaton 8, ULtey 11, Rollins 7.5,Lidge 11, Jenkins 8, Eyre 2 Blanton 5, felix 5, romano 4, Werth 5, Victorino 4, Madson 3, hamels 5-6,ruiz 1, condrey 1, coste .8, Dobbs 1.5, Moyer 8, Brunlett 1, Happ .5 , Durbin 1.5, that is 114 million with raises and three openings. No way we spend 27 million for a relief pitcher and a left fielder.

Just read a chat from Keith Law of ESPN. Here’s an interesting tidbit.

AB (CT): Who has more trade value for their current team, Dye or Magglio? Could a package of J Donald and JA Happ be a realistic starting point for either (with PHI paying full contract)

Keith Law: (1:58 PM ET ) Dye has more trade value. AL teams are going to look at Happ as a 5/6 starter, tops. He doesn’t have much value. Donald’s an everyday SS for someone, though – he’s a very valuable trade piece.

Orr re-signed with the Nats, so he’s no longer an option.

I would like Bradley in LF and I think Juan Cruz (formerly of Arizona) is a real good set-up man but he may cost too much. Brocail and Springer are more realistic options. As for a SP, I wouldn’t mind taking a shot on Brad Penny for a year.

Jim According to Anthony Gargano on wip radio the phillies are tap out with the raises. He says thet are at 141 million without a starter and left fielder, can’t figure it out. so they will resign moyer and get a cheap second tier left fielder. can’t afford bradley, My number have the phillies at 121 with raises. and arb cases settled, if hamels get more than 5 million a little higher.

NJ, I heard something along those lines too, that the GM’s were told to keep in mind the state of the economy when offering FA’s contracts. Then someone made the comment that the Yankees are sure to listen to that advice.

I don’t know if the Phillies get a bonifide 5th starter like Byrd, as with Durbin last year I think Tim’s on the money predicting a guy like Odalis Perez for insurance with JA Happ slotted in to start the season in the rotation.

Just watched an ESPN segment with good ol’ buster who talked a little about how economics might affect free agency, he said after the first wave a lot of GM’s will wait till January expecting their non high profile targets be still be there at a reduced cost.

It would be too classic a move for the Phillies to bring in Paul Byrd. Sure hes a good pitcher, and a cheap option, but we have better options and we can actually afford to spend money this time around.

Forget about Baldelli’s disease. He is not an every day play but he can be one hell of a bench player. If we scooped him up, you could use him,Jenkins and Brunnlet in left.

I like Springer. Brocail just never impresse dme. Especially in Houston. What about a guy like Jason Isringhausen on a minor league deal? Or at least an invite to spring trainning? I think he still has some bullets left in that arm.

Brocail would be a great signing. He had Durbin type #’s last year. I think that would finish off the pen. Moyer is #1 priority and after that, I really would rather re-sign Burrell. No other options out there appeal to me. 3 years 33 mill/ club option for a 4th year I think would get it done.

Bradley does seem like a pretty reasonable fit. I’d like to give Happ a chance and we should re-sign Moyer.
