Wow, we just won the WS and so many people are bashing Pat. He did well in every round of the play-offs and while he only had one hit in the WS it was huge. He may not be the best defensive LF but he is always among the leaders in outfield assists.
Bradley is a head case who will disrupt the chemistry of the team. Holiday is a one year rental whose power numbers will decline outside of Coors, for that we will deplete the farm or give up key contributors from the team. Don’t give up on Kendrick so fast he will be fine. Sign Pat to a fair deal until someone from the farm is ready.

Bill……seriously? Since Von Hayes? Better go back and check some of the rosters in the past 15 or so years before you make a statement like that. And just to clear up the facts……2002….. .282 avg along with 37 HR and 116 RBI. And 2005….. .281/32/117.

Pat, good riddance. You have no speed. You hit an average number of homers but hit in the smallest ballpark in the state (including Lehigh, Harrisburg, Reading, and Scranton). You led the league three of the last four years in WORST batting average with runners in scoring position. You can’t field your position without help from Rollins and Victorino (media backed statement). You haven’t hit over .260 since your rookie season. And, you are too motivated by the media. You are the worst player this city has had since some guy named Von Hayes.

I may be alone here, but I still say we need to pay the people we have and develop our talent. Trade – maybe, but buy a fee agent – no. I would make an exception for Jason Michaels though, I think he was one that could do the job and not be through the roof.

Personally, I don’t care to see Burrell back, no matter what kind of deal we could get for him. Overall, factoring in his lack of speed, poor defense, and high strikeout rate, he’s at best an average player who is way overpaid.

I like the idea of taking a flyer on Baldelli for 2 years at $2 million a year. He showed in the playoffs he can still play and hit lefties, and we can use the combination of Jenkins, Stairs, and Dobbs against righties (we’re paying all three of these guys to play next year, so let’s use them!)

Why would anyone in their right mind want to go after Holliday if it means giving up a bunch of prospects and possbily someone like Victorino? I think resigning Burrell or going after someone like Bradley for 2 years would be the far and away better option. We have a championship team, the goal should be to add pieces to it, not take away from its heart and soul (players like Victorino/Werth).

Lest we forget Holliday has won nothing and was actually out at the plate in game 163 against the Padres in ’07.

Holliday ain’t werth the prospects since he won’t ever sign here, and if he did, we couldn’t afford Holliday/Lidge/Utley/JRoll/Hamels/Vic/ect, and I didn’t he fathom Howard!

Just won’t happen.

I like the idea of Baldelli but wonder if Bradley could mesh well here. Bradley would require more yrs and I would not be for that, where as we could get Baldelli for 2 yrs and an option at the most.

As much as I would love to have Holliday come to Philly, I’m not sure I’d give up Vic in return. If the Phillies can make the trade without involving Victorino, I’m all for it. How many prospects besides Gavin Floyd have we lost, and regreted it? In the end we still came out ahead and won the World series. Atleast Holliday is a proven winner.

Am I the only one thinking Baldelli’s headed back to Tampa?

This organisation has wanted him for a long time but he’s not a shade on the player they wanted, he may have made the highlight reel with his two high-profile longballs but he’s barely played and has shown nothing to believe he’s going to be used much more he was down these past two months.

I like Michaels but the possibility wreaks of instability with the corner outfield spots though is Byrnes really a possiblity? His health really in questions with the continual setbacks but he would come relitavely inexpensive… Could that be for real or us just trying to find a name?
