1st off i just wanna make it clear im not the same tyler as the one cheering for k-rod… mets suck amaro’s now huge balls… i do think that 5/80 is too steep… i say start with 3/45 & see how that goes… only hike up the price if the yanks do it… love the fact that amaro is finally being the aggressive manager we’ve always wanted

I’m extremely happy that the Phils are going hard for Lowe! I was thinking more along the lines of a 4 year deal… but I’d still do 5 for a guy who is that consistent. It would still be 16 million per year… which is a smaller toll on our yearly payroll than what our good friend Jamie is demanding (18M).

Also keep in mind that if Myers leaves after next season, we will have Lowe there still for several years.

Lowe: be smart, choose the Phillies and let’s repeat

Matt and others K-Rod saved 62 games. that is about 40 perentage of there wins. But he blew 8 games out of 70 . he is 28 years old and a star reliever. The mets signed him cheaper than they thought and less years. so now they can go after a top starter and more bullpen help. We will get punto marquiz and that will counter the mets and braves moves. Chris and others believe it will be okay if not marquiz then wolf. what a joke.

There really can’t be anyone who believes the phillies are going after lowe. And are talking five years. Come on this is just some writer putting out a lot of stuff to draw interest. The phillies won’t be doing anything until all the top players sign. Like last year then go after a right handed bat for left like a jenkins and a cheap alterative for chase until he comes back.

K-Rod is no better then Billy Wagner, so the way I look at it, they are practicaly the same team that started last year. Tyler, I’d put your hard-on away til your Muts at least make the playoffs. I’m looking foward to K-Rod throwing his heat against our lefthanded bats, I see a few more blown saves.

K-Rod blew 8 saves last year. He will need to be perfect just to catch us next year. And in all probability K-Rod will be on the DL by September.

The Muts overpaid for K-Rod… hoorraay!!! I can’t wait to see how quickly he crumbles under the pressure of playing in NY or gets caught up in the night life (just like the rest of them).

5 years at $16m/year is a bit much… but it if takes an extra year, maybe you go for it. He’s not a power pitcher so durability shouldn’t be a huge concern… there is no reason to think that he won’t be effective pitcher in his early 40′s. It’s risky and it’s ballsy but if we’re losing Myers next year and Moyer this year we are gonna need some help and this guy has proven that he can pitch in hostile situations. This is a good year to nab FA pitchers because there are three or four big names out there. I wish that we could keep Moyer around but it sounds like his demands are too high.

Why are people so worried about how good or bad lowe will be in year 5.

What about how potentially nasty our rotation could be next year and the year after that. Hamels, Lowe, Meyers, Blanton, and whoever emerges as a star for the 5th spot.

And btw…offering Moyer 14mil is very generous. the fact that he wants 18 is rediculous. Has he been hangin out with Manny?

I also love the fact that he’s showing he’s got a pair on him and he’s willing to spend, but this would be outrageous for us to do. 5 years/80 Mil isn’t worth it. How great would a 1-2 punch of Hamels and Lowe be though, especially if the bullpen stays healthy and intact.
