Chris great enthusiam. but to be real, putz and k=rod is a big improvement. if the mets get another starter. like lowe or burnett or perez back with there offense.they will be strong . I have to believe the only way the phillies improve is through a trade.

Manny the phillies pulled out as reported on lowe. Endy Chavez??? Seriously, why would a rebuilding team like the Mariners want him? Yuck. I know the offseason has a long way to go, but so far the Muts have added K-Rod and Putz and the Phillies have Ronny Paulino.

I can’t believe Putz could be had for that slop. The winter meetings are a place to begin trade talks many times but not necessarily finish them. Does Amaro need to do more this winter? yes, but there's no reason to get hositle yet. There are a few things to expect from Ruben in the next few weeks.
1. free up a roster spot (and at least a few million) by moving Eaton, Jenkins, Kendrick and/or Stairs. Right now, the team as an extra back of the roation guy (i that) and an extra leftie off the bench,
2. Get 2-3 of the arbitration eligible guys sign for multiyear deals (specificaly Hamels) while taking care of the others withouy having them turn on the team
3. Don't give away more than $30 total or $8/yr to any free agents specifically pitchers over 36
4. Trade Coste (and now paulino) somewhere that he has a chance to cnotribute and allow marson to take over as the back update.
5. Sign a veteran starting pitcher to be the 4/5 to a 2 year or less contract (3rd option year ok)
6. Get a solid to potentially electric OF who can hit leftiesIf he can accomplish these things, I will be happy with his first winter as GM.

Chris, as others have said …..relax. Mets are on the verge of getting J.J. Putz for Heilman, Endy Chavez, Joe Smith and assorted other crap. This is not a good deal for the Mess, it's a GREAT deal. The pressure is on Amaro, let's make something happen.

Crap.<br
