Hey Grif,I hear what Law is saying about Marson, he has never had more then 32 extra base hits in any of his minor league seasons and his career slugging percentage isn’t even .400. But that being said he has still raised his average bigtime over the past 3 years and is still only 22. I think the more he matures as a hitter, he will make adjustments and will become more of a a line drive hitter with a little more pop.

I’m with you Pete. I think this means that we’ve given up on Lowe and don’t understand why we’re adding a 37-year old, left-handed hitting,terrible fielding outfielder.

If we’re going hard after Ibanez, I imagine that means we’re waving the white flag on Lowe. Oh well…

And I’m still a little confused why our top OF target would be a lefty. Does the front office really think Johnny Wacko is adequate protection for Howard?

Another random note. This is from Keith Law’s chat on ESPN. Keith used to be a huge Lou Marson supporter, but….

“Justin (PA): what do you think about Lou Marson?

Keith Law: I think he hits the ball into the ground way too often, and that it’s a swing issue. It limits his upside as a hitter.”

I think Ozzie loves Abreu. I’ve read on numerous websites that they are the favorites, with the Rangers trailing, in the Abreu sweepstakes. They’ve cut payroll by dealing away Vasquez, so I’m not sure how much more they want to cut. I bet they regret that Paul Konerko extension though.

Random thought: The White Sox are said to be the favorites to land Bobby Abreu (the Venezuelan connection with Ozzie). That means the White Sox may be looking to move Dye. Would Dye be a consolation prize once we lose out on Lowe?
