The players who are already making millions should donate their share to the CBP/Phillies employees, can you imagine what a few extra thousand dollars would mean to people less fortunate? Or give it to a charity, which I’m sure some of them will do.

The money went to the players, not the organization. The Phillies made over $30 million on this years playoff run and that’s a conservative number.

Tropicana Field seems cavernous and seems like it can hold way more people than the 41,000 advertised after they opened the upper level during the playoffs. Coors Field holds >50000. Fenway = 36,108 and CBP = 43500.

Tim – I’m not sure where you are coming up with the larger ballpark capacity = more $$$ for the Rat Sox in 2007.

I don’t think Fenway holds anywhere near 46,000 as CBP does. As for Colorado vs. Tampa Bay parks, I’m not sure how they measure up. I would suspect the cramped confines of Fenway alone would average out to less capacity between it and Colorado vs. CBP and the Trop. No?

Using more exact seating numbers, our savings could have been $5.22 per seat. So if you own 2 season tickets, you could have saved almost $900 bucks if they would have used this money to reduce seat prices. I’m not an idiot, so I know that this would NEVER happen, but imagine the happy fans. Hell, $4.50 can almost buy you a beer.

Doing some quick math, and using approximations, that could save $4.50 per seat each game next year. 18.4 million divided by 81 games divided by appx 50000 seats. Nice to know the millionaires have some more pocket change and the people who spend money to watch them have to spend even more now.
