At some point we have to give up on Moyer, especially if Lowe signs elsewhere (probably with the Mets). Because if the Happ/Coste/Derosa trade goes down and Lowe signs somewhere else, we can only wait so long before we HAVE to sign the rest of our starting pitching. And I don’t think we’ll know how much Lowe will take until CC signs somewhere, because that’ll probably determine the value of the pitching market.

I think Arbuckle leaving hurts, but Chuck Lamar is going to help for personnel.. we should be looking at a few good years of Phillies baseball. but you can’t trade away your pitching to plug a hole in LF for 2 years.. its not a smart move.. If Vitters is involved, it might be a very good move.. but I can’t see the Padres not asking for him in return.. why would they only want Happ and Coste???

the thing that turned me around was that the blanton move turned out to be the right move..they didnt panic or get desperate like the cubs and yankees…they just stuck to their guns and their homegrown stars and it worked..that showed me while you do need the pitching, you dont have to get all desperate and give up your elft nut (which is exactly what the cubs are doing right now) for somebody

Zambrano is too out of shape to stay healthy, and got muscle cramps and stuff from drinking too much RedBull last year.. finely tuned athlete he is.

Lilly is good, and I’d want him on my team anyday..

But the Cubs are at a desperate point now.. 100 years without a championship, and they are trying to be the Yankees..Let them overspend, but I would HELP them by allowing them to get Peavy… IF any 2 of Harden, Peavy, or Zambrano stay healthy.. the Cubs run away with the NL next year

When Heyman says that he “thinks” we offered 14/2.. but Moyer wants 18/2 (does he KNOW that Moyer wants that, or is that also part of what he THINKS?)

I said yesterday before I had any idea what he was asking that 16/2 or 18/2 is definitely a fair deal for Moyer… think about how good he was last year, and he could have been a 20 game winner, but like Hamels, lost a couple of 2-1 games and stuff. If you want to keep Moyer, you have to pay him what he’s worth..

Ok, how about 2 years, $14M WITH incentives (up to $4M). That would give him what he wants if he performs.
