Ignorance of the law is never a valid defense in our legal system, it shouldn’t be in baseball’s “legal system.”

That’s nice, but “mistake of fact” and “lack of requisite intent” ARE valid defenses in our legal system. I don’t know what kind of shit law school you went to, but you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about.

Tim, I like this idea of the Phillies Nation Store with the Broad Street Bootlegs shirt. Perhaps, you could sell some more phillies designs from local artists and “garment makers,” (is that the right word?) My friend has a shirt that reads “Phinally Phree” with Willy Penn and The Phanatic shaking hands. If you could get your hands on shirts like that and strike deals with the creators, I think it would be beneficial to everyone involved.

Actually David…they just started putting that label on the product in the early fall….months after Romero started taking it and after he tested positive. Originally that label was not included on the packaging and was shown as evidence at the arbitration hearing.

FYI there’s an article in the New York Times today about the situation. Of course it leaves 0 room for Romero being innocent (which obviously he is).

Josh is right. He broke the rules. And before you get all worked up about what Im saying, read up on this situation a bit. First, he reportedly “tested positive for 6-OXO Extreme, a product that enhances testosterone production in ways very similar to anabolic steroids. While legal and still available at your local GNC, 6-OXO Extreme has always carried a warning that it could result in positive tests. 6-OXO is a product of Ergopharm. Ergopharm is owned and operated by a guy you might remember: Patrick Arnold. Arnold was the source for the THG used by BALCO. 6-OXO is loaded with Vitamin B-6 and carries a label stating ‘Use of this product may be banned by some athletic or government associations (including military)…If Romero didn’t know what he was taking, he sure got unlucky in picking the product marked ‘for hardcore users only’ and with a connection that baseball fans would rather forget.’”-Will Carroll via Rob Neyer. I don’t know what is or isn’t true for sure. Most of us don’t. But if this report by Will Carroll is accurate, then I don’t feel much sympathy for Romero. Ignorance of the law is never a valid defense in our legal system, it shouldn’t be in baseball’s “legal system.”

I like the shirt, but I have to agree with the others regarding the price.

I didn’t happen to see a fan forum, so I’m going to post this here and hopefully it’s okay with the administrators.

As you may already know, Baseball America released it’s Top 10 PHI prospects list today.

I’ve put together a few pages reflecting BA’s top 10’s. The pages show the past few seasons for side-by-side comparisons along with this years reviews. The pages are formatted by division which allows you to read multiple teams on one page instead of going back and forth.

Congratulations on the Championship. It was well deserved.
