Eaton Talks About His Future

The fifth starter’s job is up in the air, but Ruben Amaro Jr. already counted out Adam Eaton for the job. Eaton was not shocked.
“I knew already, obviously. If I establish myself, it might not be here. That’s just the way it is. There’s a lot of pitchers vying for the fifth spot. Stuff happens. Who knows what’s going to happen? Hopefully, nothing does happen, and
it makes it a very difficult decision for them. But I just have to get ready for a season. I’m not going to shortchange myself or my teammates now or in the future. If it’s a season here in Philly, so be it. If it’s a season somewhere else, that’s the way it is.”
The best option for the Phillies is to release him, or better yet trade him if anybody is willing to take him. Eaton said that he will not accept an option to the minor leagues:
“If we get to that point, I’ll be released. And I don’t think that’s the end of the world by any means. It would be kind of prudent not to trade for me. I’m not going to accept another assignment. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist for another GM to maybe wait and take your shot at getting me for less than a trade would be.”
If the Phillies release him, they must eat $8.5 million of Eaton’s salary.
“I think odds on favorite I’ll probably going somewhere else, but that’s a good thing too.” Eaton said.
Eaton seems like the outcast of the team. He wasn’t in sight for the Phillies World Championship celebration and didn’t attend the parade. He claimed he would of liked to be there, however was “not invited.”
“Obviously, it hasn’t been the best fit here,” Eaton
said. “I haven’t had two good years. For me to establish myself again, it might not be here, it might be somewhere else. It’s nobody’s fault, it’s just the way it is. “
The Phillies are not optimistic about him. It’s almost obvious Eaton doesn’t want to be in Philadelphia, and is looking for a new start with another team. In 2 years, Eaton had a 6.10 ERA with the Phillies. He was sent down to the minor leagues last year and struggled there. Chances are Eaton will be moved by the end of spring. A flyball pitcher in a hitter’s park, he was never a good fit in Philadelphia.

Eaton’s words don’t belong in these pages! He’s smug about the Phils having to pay for a product he can’t deliver on. Piece of crap!!

The funny thing about all this, is that Eaton thinks he’ll be pitching with a big league club next season. I assure you, he’ll be hurling his crap in the Atlantic League next season wondering where all the offers are. There aren’t any! His pitiful performance as a Phillie was a total joke. Truth be told, I’d shove any minor leaguer out there before Eaton. So he is totally free to act like the joke is on the Phillies for overpaying for him. The joke however is on him. He expects big league action? He won’t get it. He’s one of the worst pitchers in baseball. That’s his legacy.

Good bye Adam Eaton and good friggin riddance. You moron, the reason you were not invited to the parade was because you were not invited to the playoff roster. How may other minor leaguers were invited to the parade. Amazingly with all of Eatons big talk about playing with a big club this year, that loser struggled in the minors last season. I hope you pitch in the big leagues next year. I hope the Phillies get to play you, and I hope we mow the friggin infield with you butt. You’re welcome for the 24 mil gift, you loser.

i really don’t have any hard feelings for eaton, i’d like to see him get a job elsewhere. but this quote cracked me up: “It’s nobody’s fault, it’s just the way it is.” yeah adam, it was just fate that you pitched like total crap here. none of the blame should go towards your terrible performance!

Christopher yeah, it was destiny that caused him to hang all of his off speed pitches over the plate.

Totally wish things worked out better for Eaton, I like his attitude a lot more than Myers.

You like his attitude better than Myers? Sure, he’s a headcase. But he wants to win just as much as the other guy.
Eaton went out there and just seemed like he didn’t care. There’s a stark difference between the two…

About the parade. Calls ups such as Mike Cervanek and Andy Tracy were there, and Eaton was not!

And how did Eaton have a better attitude than Myers? Myers needed to work things out in the minors and came back better than ever! There was no working anything out with Eaton, because a loser is a loser.

It’s the early morning, I was at the bar all night, and well, Adam Eaton was a subject of a couple of my ramblings. Yes, I filled myself with the foulest feelings when I saw him pitch over the past two seasons in our uniforms. Yes, I never felt like escaping some form of disgust when I thought about his contract and all the money we shelled out. And yes, I never wanted him on our team to begin with. However, I have always separated a player’s performance with a player’s character. For the most part, I always felt bad for Adam Eaton because everybody in Philadelphia and Phillies’ fans everywhere dumped him straight into the garbage. I guess I tried to imagine what it was like to be him. Now, all I can really express are words that I can’t post on here. I read the whole interview with him. Man, my stomach emptied itself into a wasteland. Yeah, it sucks to watch your teammates/friends win the World Series while you’re at home. Yeah, the whole Adam Eaton/Philadelphia thing sucks. Yeah, you want to play major league ball still. . . Well…
To: Adam Eaton, you’re not the first player to go through all this. We all know you want your shot to pitch, but to declare that you won’t take another minor league assignment even before you’ve been released is beyond me ever understanding. You make more money that I ever will in my lifetime, and you still have more due in your contract. Your lack of proper attitude reflects poorly towards any other team that might want to pick you up. Even though you pitched during our World Series season, I don’t consider you a champion. I would have before you opened your mouth, but you have changed things. Baseball fans of the future won’t remember any of your “legacy,” but Phillies fans will remember you forever in the worst possible ways. You could have been forgotten, but you didn’t keep your mouth shut. Nice job, big guy.

it is a shame that we are going to have to eat most, or all of his contract, but we have basically done that for 2 years already.

Let’s loose this guy already. He ranks at or as close to the top of one of the all time busts. It sucks that we’re gonna have to eat most of this pinhead’s salary, but everyone in the world (including lesser developed nations) knows we’re in the “process” of cutting him loose. Let’s move on, and quit giving this more press. Give him a broom and a mop to clean out the clubhouse in Clearwater until his pink slip is in his pocket.
