Odds And Ends: Tickets, Photo, Durbin, Park, Glanville

Odds And Ends, Posts

I suppose this year I’ll try my hand the old-fashioned way — through picking up deals when friends can’t attend games. Par for the course when you’re world champions.

Let that be the final reminder of 2008 for the boys on the field. Now time to focus on a repeat.

To me, Durbin was the single most important piece of the 2008 Phillies. He needs to see less time on the mound, or else the bullpen will be badly exposed and beaten.

I hope Park gives it a good run. But if he doesn’t win the spot, I hope Park realizes his role quickly and doesn’t dwell over what could’ve been. Park will be crucial to the ‘pen’s success.

  • Great little piece by Doug Glanville about how difficult it is for players to handle the media, immediate fan reaction and instant opinion.

I’ve raved about Glanville’s writing before, and I continue today. Anytime his name is in the New York Times, it’s a worthy read.

uggghhh man. looks like i’ll be buying tickets through scalpers this year. i can’t plan going to a game this far in advance. i usually don’t decide until the day of the game. oh well. i freaking HATE scalpers!

thats pretty incredible they have sold 2.5 million tickets without evening playing a game first. if you look at attendence records its even more incredible considering the phils were selling less than 2 million for the whole year most of the time at the vet

If you go on stubhub you can get some deals on games. I’ve bought a few games for under 20 a ticket, some are better than others but its a pretty decent price

I usually go through scalpers anyway, Ryan. I’m the same way, I decide the day of the game. I’ve had good experiences with scalpers buying tickets for less then 15 bucks a piece.

Fran: i’ve had some good experiences with scalpers too. i just hate them because you know alot of the tickets that have already been sold are to people who have no interest in the phillies what so ever and are only interested in making a buck off a ticket. they are leeches.

last year i really came to a boil. i went down at 8 am opening day to try to get a standing room only ticket and the tickets sold out in about 3 minutes. the first 100 people in line at the window were all scalpers. every last one of them. they slept there overnight so they could make a profit off the tickets. they bought up the maximum amount you were allowed for each person.

they have no job. no purpose on earth. they contribute nothing. they should be exterminated. they’re the sports equivalent of Al Queda. bastards

No offense, but the 6packs have been available for a long time. I know everyone isn’t in a position to buy 6 tickets, but I was able to get 6packs for 5 of my buddies and myself and I also bought 6 tickets to the Mother’s Day game.

I got a 6-pack (3 games vs the Mets, one vs the Red Sox) and two additional single game tickets… If you can’t go you can try selling them to friends or someone else.

Park should not be a key to any Bullpen.

Nice view of how it feels to be interviewed. Never looked at the players end of it.

Bought a partial season… 17 games in section 142… bought 6 tickets and basically forced a handful of my friends to ante up and buy 4 games a piece. So far, of the 102 tickets, I have 90 accounted for. They make great birthday gifts… I couldn’t get opening day tickets so I’m a little pissed (this will be the first time in 3 years that I haven’t been at opening day) but I can’t wait for the season to begin.
