Posts, Spring Gameday
Today the Phillies open their Spring schedule in Bradenton against the Pirates.
Jamie Moyer goes for the Phillies while Ian Snell toes the rubber for the Buccos. The Phils will also send Joe Blanton, Joe Bisenius, Scott Nestor, Joe Borkowski, Mike Koplove and Jake Woods to the mound. The latter five are bullpen candidates, but think of their chances in order of pitching, and even Bisenius and Nestor aren’t favorites to make the club.
The lineup is close to standard, with Matt Stairs taking designated hitter, Geoff Jenkins playing right field and Eric Bruntlett and Jason Donald playing third base and second base, respectively, for the rehabbing Pedro Feliz and Chase Utley.
Gametime is 1:05 p.m.

I would argue the season starts now. But I understand, I’ll just need something heavy for the Liverpool match.

Yeah yeah. I promise 162 beers, but I’m not giving a beer for every meaningless ST game.

http://www.bigtalker1210.com you can listen live to the phils broadcast for free, instead of paying MLB.com

I said “I promise” 162 beers. I can’t promise any more unless the Phillies actually make it happen.

I’ve loaded the listen live radio from thebigtalker1210.com.
I haven’t heard anything yet for the Phils. It sounds like the Rush Limbaugh show. Are you sure you can listen to it online? Are there any other places you can listen to this game?

Until the last week of ST, evaluation, not wins or losses that matters in these exhibition games. So I hope no one here will get maniacal over these “meaningless” games for the next several weeks.

Yeah what the hell? I’m listening to 1210 live from the website and Rush Limbaugh is on.
What gives?

Big Talker Web site has Limbaugh. You can only get the game via MLB.com. Two outs in the first – Ibanez at the plate. No score.

Just called 1210 and they said it’s on the radio and is not online!
I don’t have a radio nearby! Ahhh!!!

Wow… let’s gather our burning pitchforks and head to 1210 headquarters because this is total BS.

MLB has streaming radio rights, it’s not 1210′s fault.

Kevin’s right, MLB owns the streaming rights. When the Phils play the Mets, I can’t listen to WFAN online, unless I want a replay of the crappy morning show.
Sometimes MLB.com lets you listen to spring training games for free, but I don’t think today’s game is free.

Nice backhanded play by Howard on a grounder. Tried to turn two but the trail runner was speedy and beat Moyer’s bad catch.

Maybe so, but the reason why it’s BS is because on the Phillies broadcast schedule (http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/schedule/broadcast.jsp?c_id=phi) it lists the radio station as 1210, and it doesn’t say anything about having to listen to it on an actual radio, as opposed to online.

Chill. Local stations blacking out MLB broadcasts on the net is nothing new. They’ve always done it.
Just get the streaming radio on MLB.com. It’s $15 for a year. That’s the cost of one standing room ticket to one game and you’ll use it all year.

Howard’s defensive work gonna pay off this year? It would be amazing if he became less of a defensive liability. I think his new deal will pay off in spades.

Bruntlett just hit the old 5-4-3 to end the inning with bases loaded on walks.

Donald begins his walk to making the big club. I can’t believe baseball is finally here!!! Season Tickets yesterday, game on the radio today? What next? Maybe I’ll hit the lottery… guess I gotta play first. I think Howard shedding some pounds and putting in the extra work will pay off immensly for the Big man. Plus being lighter will help his mobility at getting to balls.

You can’t spell Raul Ibanez without R-B-I… just thought of that… kind of lame but it’s a beautiful day and I’m taking off early to play b-ball so even lameness is making me smile.

Oh, and when I tuned in it was 1-0, Phils, did some running around, and when I got back in the car it was 5-1, who gave up those 5 runs, not Moyer, I’m hoping???

8-2 final. Blanton gave up a run. Bisenius gave up four. Nestor and Borkowski also gave up runs, I believe.
