Programming Alert: “Game Of The Year” On MLB.com

News, Posts

At 3 p.m. today, MLB.com will be showing (for free) the Aug. 26 game between the Phillies and Mets; it’s the game I labeled “Game of the Year,” and probably was, at least during the regular season. Watch Jamie Moyer and Co. give up seven early runs, and watch the Phils get all of ‘em back before doing everything under the sun to win the game.

It’s three days of Phillies wins at MLB.com. Tomorrow they’re showing the game one win in the NLDS, and Tuesday it’s the ridiculous comeback off Jose Valverde and the Astros.

I was at the Astros game. I remember Shawn “I choked the hell out of Ed Wade” Chicon was pitching lights out. Then came Valverde in the ninth. The rest was history….

No denying how great that game was. But my pick for “Game of the Year” was September 14. Game 2 of a double header against the Brew Crew. Myers pitches a complete game, letting up just 2 hits and one run. Burrell put one into the stands, Myers batted in a run (the first of many batting feats for Myers) and Victorino went 4-4. More importantly, it sealed the deal. The Phils were back in the play off hunt after that. I remember how pissed I was that the game was called right when I got down there that Friday night before, but I totally forgot about it after watching this amazing game a few days later.

I checked the archives, we has 429 posts on that game! It is SO funny to check those old comments, I think the only one on here that had the phaith was Don, most of us back in August thought there was NO WAY they were even making the playoffs, what a season, I still sometimes can’t believe it, still get chills, still get all verklempt.

Don’t know about you guys but I’m almost at that point where it’s ‘baseballs around and we’re world champions’… Seriously? No way that’s just crazy talk… Us, world champions… Still hasn’t sunk in properly
