Whatever happened to the possible Hamels interview, is that still a possibility.. or is that a late-spring training thing?

It is… Cole is extremely busy, of course. Don’t worry.

Fran, has that been confirmed? CSN isn’t saying it’s happened for sure. Totally sucks if it is true, yet another reason why they can’t win a championship with the current owners, no loyalty to veteran players. Oh, well , the Phils are WFC!!!

When are you going to do a story about the imminent collapse of MLB following the collapse of the American economy.

I love MLB as much as anyone, but it’s a total racket that spent money like drunken sailors and will soon be paying the piper for its egregrious excess.

Can we really support something where a lousy pitcher who was never good to begin with just got released and will make $9 million dollars.
We’ve lost our perspective, but that’s grossly outrageous.

Back in the day, players had second jobs over the winter. They were revered, but baseball was a family business and everyone could afford to attend games.

It’s called a free market. I buy the tickets, the shirts, the dvds, thus MLB can spend tons of money on high priced talent. I mean sure, there are days when I look at Manny turning down 2 years for $45 million or whatever it is and want to puke. But this is the business, and after seeing my Phils win the World Series, I’m not complaining.

    Greg,

Except it’s not a free market where teams get taxpayer funds to pay for their stadiums, or special tax breaks from cities.

Mark my words, MLB will be seeking a bailout within a year just like the banks, the Big Three, and soon everyone else.

Will Congress let America’s Pastime fail?
