Chase is a wonderful player and one of the three hearts of the P’s (Rollins & Howard) but whether he makes it back or not Donald, Cairo or Giles can carry the load for him and we’ll still win.

I would LOVE to see Chase’s name to be in the lineup on Opening day but not at the cost of his long term health. We are going to have to trust the doctors in keeping a close eye on his health and putting a stop to things if they think its looking bad.

He’ll probably play in sim games in Clearwater for a week after the season starts then a couple games with Lehigh or Reading then come back to the Phils

Encouraging news… that’s for sure. I heard that he was working extremely hard… like 24-7… to get back on track. So hard that Amaro and Co. had to tell him to tone it down. It’s obvious that he’s driven. I think that he really wants to win an MVP and that’s great but I would hate to see him rush back on the field just to make a statement… a blatant ESPN move. You know that if Chase is back on opening day, people are going to talk about how hard he worked and how much of a fierce competitor he is… his stock rises but sometimes injuries like that (especially hip injuries) can be tricky. He won’t know if his hip is truly healed until he is able to game test it. He can take groundballs and stand in the cage all he wants but until he is standing in the way of a takeout slide or trying to reach for a Johan slider, he won’t know for sure if he’s 100%.

I still think the Phils will hold him out at least 1 week maybe 2 just to make sure he’s 100 percent I don’t think they want to take any chance rushing him back.

I just hope he does not try to pull what he did last year. I mean he still put up some great numbers but I would rather have him out for a month, and play the rest of the season at 100% then have him start opening day and play the whole season at 75%
