I recall Cole’s last game vs the Nats in Washington… he completely dominated them.

I was going to say with that game at Coor’s… and the weird things it does to breaking balls, etc… wouldn’t it be better to have Hamels make that next start, which would be in Washington?

So, if Hamels tosses a similar gem on Sunday – what do you do?
You want to tell him “we need you more in the second half”? Is it not that big of a deall that he wants to start right away? Or he misses a start or 2?
If he does not start the season, will 20 games still be in his target? (I dont know if he would miss any starts, really) – if he does not reach 20 wins (and someone else does) – does the venerated CY award elude his reach? That award is an automatic raise (I dont know if there are award clauses in his contract, usually the case) and at such a young age!

Jeff Baker of the Rockies is out of options and , according to Ken Rosenthal and as reported on MLB.COM, the Rockies may be interested in Kyle Kendrick, THe Phils most likely want to move Geoff Jenkins contact, or Matt Stairs’. Baker, a 28-year-old right handed hitter, can play a number of positions and is accustomed to utility play. Something to think about.
