Moniker: Chan Ho Park

Moniker, Posts
Every third Sunday, we’ll present “Moniker,” where we nickname a member of the Phillies, for better or worse.
Chan Ho Park is now looking like a member of the 25-man roster. His performance against the Cardinals today showed he still has the stuff capable of going deep into games. But this South Korean star doesn’t have a nickname. I know, crazy.
Interestingly, some players once called him “Chooch,” but that’s taken, of course. So what would you call Park? Be creative. And please, have fun.

Totally off topic, but did anybody watch “The Simpsons” tonight? The Phanatic showed up during it.

I like ‘Charlie’…double reference…
one not so nice and the other funny…
1) we called the Veit-Cong ‘Charlie’, I know he is Korean, but it fits…
2) and perhaps more interesting is the Charlie Chan reference…
you know Americanize him…by calling him Charlie

This may sound weird, but I kinda like the name “Chan WOW” (in the spirit of the Sham WOW). What do you think?

Jeff – “Chan Wow” is very funny! Especially if you say it with an Asian martial arts flare.
Very annoying commercials for Sham Wow, but it really does stick with you. :^)

I laughed out loud for man-ho… a reference to Deuce Bigelow. Good job, Chooch.
Chan Wow was good, too…
Chop will probably stick… if we’re going to go with something like that, we could stretch it to Chopper.

Good thing that the Phils signed Chan-Ho, bc now So’s Hoe’s can make an easy switch to Chan Ho’s Hoe’s.
I like “Chop” as well.

Seoul Man is nice, but sorry to ruin the high: just about everyplace in Seoul and everyone in Korea has abused the ‘Seoul’ / ‘Soul’ connection beyond forgiveness. Clubs, DJs… but I don’t know about baseball…
FYI this message has no connection to an apparent lack of enthusiasm for my suggestion, Bruce Chen II :)

Has to be Seoul Man. Chop is so-so, but that’s not as good to yell out at a game as, ‘SEOUL MAN’. And by the way, we’re not actually IN Korea…so…

Ponch (CHP).
If he does well enough to get a fan club, we call it the Pennsylvania Highway Patrol.
