The Phillies pitching could not hold up in their 10-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In 5.2 innings, Jamie Moyer struck out seven batters, but allowed seven earned runs on eleven hits, including Andrew McCutchen’s solo home run. In the eighth inning, Brad Lidge gave up a three run homer to Garrett Jones.
Ian Snell and the rest of the Pirates pitching limited the Phillies offense to just four hits. Ryan Howard hit his eighth home run of the season, a monster solo shot over the batter’s eye in center field. Carlos Ruiz hit a three-run home run off Denny Bautista.

Jason Jaramillo looked really good behind the plate for Pitt….
Chooch was good with the bat… he got a double and that big homer.
Moyer looked really good sometimes, but his last inning was horrible.
Lidge, pretty bad.
Jenkins and Stairs looked bad in the outfield, though the wind was certainly a factor.

Having been shelled more times than a bag of pistacios, Moyer has the ability to come back with a fine performance his next start. The fact that he struck out seven says a lot. I guess the ump did not give him a generous plate.

Why has Lidge been getting rocked his past two outings?

Anybody have a link where we can see the Howard bomb and/or Bruntlett’s nice defensive play.

“Why has Lidge been getting rocked his past two outings?”
because last season was a fluke and he is now reverting back to his normal self

Estrada – it seemed everytime that Lidge pitched last year in a non-win situation, he did not do so wewll at all.
No worries…

haha…Estrada, I was looking for something more like “He didn’t have control of his slider,” from someone who saw the game. It’ll take more than two pre-season games to think he’s reverting.
