The Unite
d States beat Canada 6-5 in a game that was down to the wire.
Jimmy Rollins did not start, but came in as a pitch runner. He was 1-for-2 and was caught stealing. He also saved the game for his team, making a big defensive play to get closer JJ Putz off the hook. Shane Victorino went 2-for-4 for the Americans.
Matt Stairs went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts for Canada.
In other action, Puerto Rico beat Panama, 7-0. Carlos Ruiz went 1-for-2 for Panama. Ruiz was lifted in the 9th inning due to a neck injury.

Jimmy Rollins also made a great defensive play in the 9th that kept Putz (Yiddish pun intended) from blowing the save.

Joe Cater Tim says that in his article. and a met almost blew it in the ninth if it werent for the Phils ( j roll had two put outs and Vic caught the pop up) different year same story. cant wait for April

In other action in the WBC, both Reyes and Tattise were upset by a team from Northern Europe, the Netherlands. Those pot smoking dutch thightened the noose that allowed two Mets to “Choke” again.

I love that Putz is shaky already. He lost one game already as closer for USA against a MLB team in an exhibition, and now he almost blows another game? Looks like Davey Johnson should be going to Broxton to close games cuz Putz is just that, a big putz

jason B obiously didnt watch the game, because neither reyes or tatis had an at bat during DR’s upset loss…and of course putz is shaky, he’s missing spring training for this! you expect someone to be in mid season form in early march? this is when st typically starts.. philly is filled with a bunch of morons.
