Posts, Spring Gameday
Carlos Carrasco will make his final audition for the big-league club today as the Phillies meet the Yankees. Game time is 1:05 p.m.
At this point Carrasco should be heading back to Lehigh Valley; he’ll need another bunch of outings to hone his repertoire. Meanwhile, the starters should be in place today as they gear up for the season opener. Joba Chamberlain starts for the Yankees (he faced the Phils 10 days ago in Tampa).

Today’s lineup goes for the 3 lefties, with Werth batting 6.
Stairs (DH), Feliz and Paulino round it out.

Also wish that Carrasco would settle down! How are we going to get any innings out of him today?

What a great way for Carrasco to take himself out of the running for the 5th starter spot. 2 run shot for Hideki Matsui, in his contract year. 2-0 Spankees.

I really wanna see Feliz, Victorino and Coste get many more ABs in what’s left of ST.

Victorino’s different than Feliz and Coste who have been hurt most of ST, he’s been playing so i’m not concerned with Victorino’s play at all since he’s been playing in the WBC which has been more competitive so i think he’s ready and waiting for the season to start.

Justin: I think Vic needs to play more though in what’s left of ST… he wasn’t a regular player for Team USA cause he had to split time out there… remember Davey Johnson putting Longoria in for Shane’s AB in the last game? Agh… I don’t think Shane got half the playing time Jimmy did.

Chuck thank’s for the FYI

I am just loving this new Flash Player..the Red color just jumps out at you.
I had to watch almost all the games on MLB TV last year so I really appreciate the quality of this new stuff.

Manny: I didn’t get to see many of the games due to work schedule but I agree he didn’t get the PT he needs for ST but being the starter i don’t have many worries that he isn’t ready for the regular season, J-Roll got more ABs and playing time because his bat was too good not to be in the lineup and please find me an argument that someone would rather Jeter playing ss over J-Roll right now. He, right now, is far and away a better fielding ss than Jeter and should have started at Short in their last game against japan.

When I would go away for buisness, MLBtv saved my life… It really looks good, but, I’m not traveling anymore, so I won’t need it… wish it looked this good last year.

Jeter missed a couple plays up the middle that Rollins makes with his eyes closed. That however was one of many mistakes Davey Johnson made in the game against Japan.

Carrasco pitched well. He missed his spot a couple of times, had a couple of bloop hits fall in but he managed only 1 BB and 4 k’s…. overall, he looks good. A little more time in AAA will help.
They have Ibanez batting fifth against the RH Joba Chamberlain. That’s kind of what I expected.

It’s gonna be interesting now to see all the lefties [in a row] in our lineup deal with a lefty pitcher from the Yankees

Yea i read that article on ESPN about all of Davey Johnson’s mistakes and he is an idiot and a bad manager but in all honesty theres nothing that can be done about it. There’s going to be fired managers taking that job for awhile since you can’t expect a current manager to leave his managerial duties during spring training to coach a team USA team. The NBA has the advantage there in that the season or pre season hasn’t even started when they play in those type of games Olympics or Olympic Qualifying games.

Justin, I completely agree with you, you really can’t pull another skipper from his team… But some moves were no brainers, exam… Victorino switch hitter against a rightie. Vic would bat from the left side, naturally. Vic was in the on deck circle. Instead, he changes his mind and puts right hand hitting Longoria out there and he strikes out looking very bad doing it. That was a no brainer, and he botched it big time… I guess there is a reason Davey is jobless.

Paulino just watched a baserunner steal second, without the thought of trying to throw him out ever crossing his mind. I hope to God we have another year of Coste.
