The Phillies rallied in the ninth inning, but fell short in their 6-5 loss to the Houston Astros.
Brett Myers pitched 5.1 innings allowing four earned runs on eight hits and a walk, including Miguel Tejada’s solo home run. Myers struck out four.
Ryan Madson pitched 1.2 scoreless innings allowing just two hits. He struck out one. Robert Mosebach allowed two earned runs in one inning.
Jason Werth capped a three run second inning with a solo home run. Shane Victorino was 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Matt Stairs’ solo home run and Eric Bruntlett’s RBI double brought in two runs in the ninth, but it wasn’t enough for the victory.

I leave for Clearwater tomorrow afternoon. First game on Sunday. A little disappointed I didn’t get to be there for St. Patrick’s day this year, but I’m very excited to get there for my third year in a row. NL east division winners, World Champs… I think my Pops and I are the good luck charm for a repeat.

I saw that…this means Paulino really wasnt valued as high as I had thought….Tashner will be usefull until Romero comes back..BUT Romero melted down in the WBC, maybe the Phillies want to give him more than 50 games to get himself ready…Tashner will due as EYre’s backup until then…I am Ok with this…hes better than Ohman and better than Royce Ring….
