Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports the Phillies are possibly dangling Ronny Paulino, and the Marlins might bite:
The Marlins, after failing to sign free-agent catcher Ivan Rodriguez, could seek Paulino as a backup to John Baker if they consider him an upgrade over Mike Rabelo.
Rosenthal went so far as to write the Phils had locked Chris Coste as backup catcher. There have been rumors that the Phils were dangling Coste, too.

I get why everyone was so quick to write off Coste, but I don’t understand why we traded a minor-league catcher for another minor-league catcher, and then decided to trade him… not to mention Paulino has a rep. for “lazy play.”

Why would you write off Coste? He’s a good back up catcher who also provides good right handed ABs off the bench. Plus, there’s a whole host of other positions he can play. Though I am a little sore that I have to get rid of my Paulino jersey now!

I’m glad the Phillies are finally giving Coste some respect (allegedly)!
