Just goes to show that even though he didn’t get the amount of PT he deserved, he did the best with what time he did get.

He is just a better all-around player than Jeter is at this point. Davey Johnson just didn’t have the guts to play Rollins over him. So what if Jeter is the captain? Rollins is better.

I heard that they had to play Jeter due to his captain status and the agreement from the Yankees, since he was losing PT from not being at ST.

I think it was Rosenthal that wrote an article that basically said the US will not win with Jeter at shortstop, they needed to start Rollins.

Ah, I found the article. here it is.

What pisses me off is that this could be the last shot at the WBC for players like Rollins… next tournament will be in 4 years.. he’ll be 34. That is Jeter’s age. One would assume that in 4 years USA will take the WBC more seriously and actually put THE BEST PLAYERS out there (aka. Rollins, not Jeter) and some other, younger elite SS will take over in 2013.

Any truth to the rumors that Jeter’s feelings were hurt so Team USA made Rollins split the award with him?

“As of 2008, plans call for the World Baseball Classic to be repeated every four years following the 2009 event, with the third installment of the Classic to occur in 2013. Other plans for the 2013 World Baseball Classic include possibly expanding the number of participating teams to 24 with qualifying rounds as a preface to reach the main competition.[7]”

according to wikipedia. so after this year, it’s changing to happen every 4 years. so the next one will be in 2013

I heard every 3 years too… but I’ve been hearing all day long that the next one is in 2013… ??

I also heard that they might try to fight the Final-Four into the All-Star weekend, instead of Pre-Season..

Personally, I think that post-post season is the time to do it. when the ARZ Fall-League, and the Mexican Winter Leagues start up.. give guys a chance to rest before the next season starts, they can then have a full spring-training with their regular team

Any truth to the rumor that Jeter is planning a Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan style attack? Move over cappy! There’s a new leader in town…

Good one, Chuck P-Harding/Kerrigan attack! Why? Why? Why?

btw, have you seen Harding lately? I sure wouldn’t want to run into her in a dark alley.

Good for Jimmy Rollins. I was seriously getting tired rooting for him and Victorino in the WBC. But I did. Every double Rollins hit, I cheered, every flyball Victorino shagged, I cheered. It felt weird, but also they were on the USA team. Heck I even cheered Jeter. The Bromance between Rollins and Wright is officially over, at least until 2013. Rollins and Wright high fiving and hugging??? Just too weird.
