In other news,
“[Pedro Feliz] went 1 for 2 with a strikeout and was grazed by a Chan Ho Park pitch.”
Evil Ho.

Saw this one coming… been saying it for a while. There’s more to this story than we’re being led to believe. Well, it looks like Mayberry is going to get his shot sooner rather than later.
Evil Ho… that’s funny.

i wouldn’t put to much into werth being scratched, other then he still hurting. they would just put him in center field if he was playing.

Mayberry should be able to do a nice job until he comes back…and then work into a role after that.

Aslong as he’s healthy May or June i dont see this as a problem. Mayberry is showing that he can hold his own and getting him some big league experience can only help us. And it’s not even St. Patty’s Day. as Don said he played three games in a row and maybe he just needed a little rest. There’s plenty of time before April 5th

Its only spring training…But didn’t I tell everyone Mayberry could take Werths role, and its his job to lose? I like Werth alot but there is something the front office doesn’t want us to know…Maybe Werth is secretly injured

4 games in a row, in a 5 day span… (Phillies were off on Tuesday)
They probably had him penciled-in and he wanted to get a day of rest instead.
If people actually look at his injury history, it all stems back to that broken-wrist… and then after being off for two years, of course your body isn’t going to be used to the grind of the season, but I hate the notion that he’s somehow damaged goods or unreliable.. He proved last year that he can play everyday, and I fully expect his numbers to go up with more at-bats.
25 HR- 25 SB…. if not 30-30

Don I couldn’t agree anymore…Werth is an outstanding player. But don’t you somehow think Mayberry can put up similar players, minus missing games due to injuries? It’s too early to tell from this point, sure! But you have to admit, Mayberry seems veryyy intriguing

Mayberry is a big guy, with a lot of power… not a whole lot of contact or speed.
Werth also has a lot of power, more contact, and a ton more speed.
I really don’t think Mayberry would put up numbers anywhere close to Werth… but i’d like to be wrong, and I want Mayberry to be the best thing to hit Philadelphia since the pretzel

You don’t think Mayberry has speed? I heard he has great speed for a big guy….LoL@The best thing in Philly since the Pretzel. Not me man! That means more headaches, and more arbitration hearing bs.

This site has all of the phillies spring training statistics… I knew that Howard was hitting homers but he really is having a remarkable spring.
Mayberry can move… he hasn’t been standing on first base too much (only 2 walks and 7 singles) but he has a stolen base. His strikeouts are high .
.333 avg — MAYBERRY — 39-13 ab/h, 2 bb, 10 so, 6 r, 3 2B, 4 HR, 12 RBI, 1-1 sb
