Another Day, Another Comeback As Phils Win, 6-4

Number nine … number nine …
The Phillies defeated the Marlins, 6-4, thanks to a second-straight ninth-inning comeback and subsequent scoring rush in the 10th frame. The winning runs were provided by a Chase Utley laser single and a Jayson Werth one-bagger. Brad Lidge pitched a nailbiting 10th to collect his fifth save of the season.
Chan Ho Park started the game and pitched his best baseball of 2009. He gave up four runs on five hits in seven innings, falling victim to home runs twice but making up for that with his bat. The pitcher lifted a home run in the third inning to give the Phils a 1-0 lead. Ryan Howard added a shot to make it 2-0. Then the Marlins came back.
The Phils probably should’ve won by a greater margin, but they left numerous men on base, especially in the first inning and sixth inning, when they only managed one run with the bases loaded and nobody out.
Ryan Madon’s scoreless ninth handed him the win. The Phillies are back at .500 and can sweep the Marlins tomorrow.

As happy as I am, I have to agree with Tim, that was a boring comeback. I loved every minute of it, but that ranked up there with the most mundane of all comebacks. Go Phillies, see you tomorrow!

hate to suggest it, but when do you consider bumping jroll from leadoff and let vic have a go at it. dont know where you would put him in the lineup, but he needs to figure it out offensively, big time.

You don’t move Jroll from the lead off spot. If there is one thing Manuel is, it’s consistent with his guys. Remember, Howard struggled until June last season and Manuel didn’t really move him at all. Sat him a game or two, but stayed consistent with him. I expect he’ll do the same with Jimmy. He knows players go through funks and Jimmy is in one of his… he’ll figure it out.

The thing that is killing this team, is as some have elluded to is giving up the damn long ball. When this team comes alove and comes together as a team, they are prolific, and it looks like they are putting it back together again. Hopefully it stays that way.

No fear! Moyer is on the mound today! He always shuts down the Fish!

The thought of JRoll crossed my mind too, but I agree, Charlie is consistent. I still think Park though is a class act. If the Phillies do one thing well it is come back to win!

Well, the game was either boring or I was really tired , because I fell asleep somewhere in the 6th and didn’t wake up until the 9th. Lidge woke me up big time in the 10th though, jeez, that was a little scary. Is the game on this afternoon or tonight?
