I would’ve booed the hell out of him… It’s like an automatic switch in my brain in which only bad things come out upon hearing the word “Eaton.” That said, I NEVER, ever booed a guy like Pat. It’s just different… I get offended mostly with what player’s say, not particularly with their performance… Those things really irritate me, like Eaton’s comments during that interview and J-Roll’s comments on the fan’s last year.

Whether you’d boo someone like Eaton or not, it all boils down to a quick split-second decision you make. I don’t see why it’s bad if you do, or bad if you don’t.

Oh, and I stayed for the whole game. Never give up on this team! Sure the Braves bullpen sucked – it was as if none of them wanted to be the one to give up the Big Hit. But give the Phillies credit for patience and timely base hits in addition to all the walks. And it sure was fun to watch!

The Phillies should send Adam Eaton a bill for the ring. I didn’t boo him, but I didn’t applaud either. It was his decision to show up. He had to expect the crowd would react the way they did.

I agree with you Griffin, booing ANYONE at a WS ring ceremony is just not cool. Posters on here “doth protest too much”, giving long diatribes trying to justify/rationalize why it’s ok to boo Eaton. There’s nothing that guy could do or say that would satisfy alot of Phillie fans, so why should he even try? Some of you guys have a very convenient memory bank, in that you will remember forever Eaton’s crappy performance, but how quickly you forgot during the first three games that the Phils are WFC.

Do you honestly believe that if Eaton said “I stunk” people would not have booed him? Pat Burrell was getting booed everyday for a 2 or 3 year period and like you said, he never bitched or moaned.

If Eaton hadn’t sucked so bad, the Phillies wouldn’t have traded for Blanton. Everything worked out, they won. I’m not defending Adam Eaton, he stunk, but he stunk before he got to the Phillies and he’ll stink now that he left the Phillies.

Yesterday was a celebration and I thought the booing was lowbrow (much like the Yankees fans booing Kenny Rogers at the 1996 parade). That’s just my opinion and I’m sure most people disagree.

A player with a $24 million, 3 year contract–serving 1.5 years of said contract before being kicked off the team for stinking up the joint– throwing the organization that is paying him and the fans that paid to watch him, under the bus in a printed interview is a far more classless act than a bunch of sports fans giving a player the Bronx cheer.

If Eaton just shut up and said “I stunk. I apologize to the fans and the team. I wish it would have worked out better.” — like Pat Burrell did or like Brett Myers did he would be looked at in an entirely different light. His incessant bitching that it wasn’t his fault is why people dislike him.

Most people get everything that they deserve in this life.

I thought the booing of Eaton was pretty classless. I think he knows by now that the fans don’t like him and yesterday’s ceremony was a time for celebration. I give him credit for having the balls to show up.

That BLS article is such a parody of itself. In it talks about the Philly rep in the media, and how maybe the media piles it on thick and finds things to write about and brings sh*t up from the 1960′s… and then it goes on to talk about Philly’s rep, finding things to write about and brings sh*t up from the 1960′s.

Imagine if the Red Sox defeated the Rays in Game 7 of the ALCS and then went on to trounce our beloved Phillies in the World Series. Fast forward to the ring ceremony at Fenway Park, PA announcer comes on, “Left Fielder, Maaaannnnyyy Rammmmiieeeerrreeeezzzzzz.” Yea, I can hear the “polite golf claps” now. I can see Big League Stew, the TMZ of sports writing, calling out Boston fans for hitting below the belt on Manny’s special day.

I was at the phillies mets games last summer wiht the 7 hour rain delay and i waited it out, along with the other 5 thousand fans. phillies tied it in the ninth with a weryth home run but lost it in extras. still a great game to be at.

The rings are huge and very beautiful. Adam Eaton smiled at the crowd and waved. And, for those who dont know this, his 7.90 Spring training ERA got him a 5th starter position on the very weak Orioles.
I sat in sec 324, for only the second time and I am glad I have this ticket plan this year, nice seats for sure.
What a freaking comeback. Frankly, I was surprised that Howard did not punch one out. He twice flied out to left center, once pretty deep.
Did anyone see Gilick crying? Pat was blubbering too I heard…
Good time and it was not too cold!

absolutely amazing game. i sat in my seat only being entertained by the phanatic because i was so let down by what was happening. what a suprise after the seventh innning strech. me and my buddy swore that the pitch that hit ryan howard lit a fire within the team that started the run. needless to say, it was an amazing feeling much like being at game one of the nlcs on the championship run. can’t wait for charlie manuel bobble head night and may first against the mets. lets go phil’s.
