I hope it is called, and called before i drive down there. Nothing is worse then getting to CBP and setting there durning a 1 hour rain delay in the cold.

I go to Villanova and we were supposed to be taking a tour of CBP then going to the game, and that was rescheduled so I am assuming the game is off.

I agree with Ed, the worst is paying for parking then sitting in the cold rain for an hour before they tell you the game will be rescheduled. I checked weather.com and it says 100% probability of thunderstorms and rain from 7 PM until Midnight

Is there a certain time that they try to make a decision by? I am going to the game tonight, and although I am a die hard, I’ll be damned if I am going to sit in the bone-numbing rain and then have it called off even before the first pitch.

It looks as though the game could be rescheduled for Thursday July 23. Both teams have an off day. The Phillies are at home, and the Padres will be between series with the Nats and the Mets. A stop in Philly would be convenient, and the weather should be perfect.

    GO PHILLIES!!!!

You know how this works… they’ll put it off as long as possible, hopefully draw some people to pay for parking and sit at Mcfadden’s and then call it off an hour before game time. It’s not really raining that hard right now…

I am just wondering if the phillies didn’t win last year, say they lost in the first round or second . would they have resign Moyer, would they have moved brett, and durbin. some of the players we got I really didn’t want back like Blanton, ibanez {who so far has made me wrong] Myers, Durbin, who I thought was losing it in the second half.

If they had not won, I think that resigning Moyer would have been a very low priority. He wasn’t great down the stretch (pre-postseason) and I think that they would have been more eager to make a run at a guy like Derek Lowe.

Moving Myers would have been extremely difficult, given the economic climate.

Durbin’s reasonably priced… when he’s doing well… stats support your statement (lost it in the second half) but he was great, for the most part, in 2008. I doubt that they would have let him go.

Regardless of the outcome in ’08, I think that P the B was (you can clown on me if this is an inappropriate usage) “Outta Here.” I think that Ibanez was on Gillick’s radar and Gillick’s influence was probably the main reason why he’s here… if we don’t win a championship, maybe Amaro doesn’t feel as much pressure to follow his advice.

As it stands, you don’t rebuild young championship team… once the Marlins realize that you don’t win 150 games in a season, and once our starters settle in, we should be in good shape. This team is built to win.

I HIGHLY doubt that they will cancel the game before game-time… They make so much money from people paying for parking and concessions, that they won’t say the game is cancelled until the last possible moment. They want people packing that stadium, game or no game.

It is pouring in NYC, so if this storm is headed south, there won’t be a game in Philly tonight.

Looks like it’s going to be spotty (as in going from 30% – 80% – 50% later)… maybe we’ll have a game, and then wait till the Padres tie it up, and then call it ;-)

mikemike, how can you say you don’t like blanton when he’s been one of the most consistent starters and hadn’t lost a game for the phils until last week? seriously… what you’re saying about moyer makes plenty of sense, i love the guys character btu he should be on the coaching staff, not on the mound, but blanton? he’s going to be a consistent starter who will occasionally throw gems… where do people get these crazy ideas about sending cole to the minors and getting “rid” of a consistent ML starter…

one more thing i’d like to add, this is still early april, look at the lines of some of the most heralded starters and you’ll notice a pattern, lester , hamels, sabathia, all struggling in their first few starts, if you think they will pitch like that all year you are dead wrong.

I know Blanton was 10-0 last year. but his numbers aren’t that good. I believe he isn’t that good, just my opinion.

Rain doesn’t head south to Philly except in strange weather events, Griffin. It comes from the west or south. And it’s POURING in Harrisburg. I was going to try to get out of work between now and 4:00 to go, but I’d just be bringing the rain along.

By the way what is the policy on rain outs, if you have a ticket and the game is reschudled. Do you exchange for another game. If so with most games near sellouts, what is the seating arrangement if they don’t have what you payed for and have to sit in lesser seats, do you get refund.

Thanks Jeff, after I posted it I thought I might have screwed it up. Unfortunately from your weather report it doesn’t sound as if there will be a game tonight.

    According to weather.com, it’s 45% at 7pm, 45% at 8pm, 40% at 9pm, then shoots up to 80% at 10pm.

The forecast is a little better than a while ago, though.

and it just changed from 80% to 60% at 10pm. Definitely looking better.

Still raining in Harrisburg – 4 hours solid so far. Maybe the rain here will go north of Philly. Anyone know what Lancaster weather is looking like?

Plus, if you look at the radar map, looks like the worst is almost over… Maybe some intermittent rain here and there but doesn’t look like it would be enough to cancel.

    mikemike,

I’m sure this does NOT answer your question:

    OFFICIAL RAINCHECK POLICY
A game becomes official after 4 1/2 innings if the Phillies lead. Otherwise five full innings must be completed before it is considered a regulation game. If a game is stopped before that time or postponed before it starts, rainchecks (original ticket) will apply as follows:

In case of a game being played as part of split (day/night) doubleheader, the raincheck (original ticket) will be valid for entry to the rescheduled game only.

In the case of a postponement and the game is unable to be rescheduled or rescheduled onto an existing game (thereby creating a traditional doubleheader) the rain check (original ticket) may be exchanged for a ticket of equal or lesser value to a future game at either the Advance Ticket Windows or through the mail, up to 60 days into the following baseball season. A raincheck is void after one legal game of a doubleheader.

For the most up-to-date weather and game information, fans are encouraged to listen to KYW 1060 or WPHT 1210.

A storm is “scheduled” for today Tim? How do you know, have you spoken with God about his schedule? If so, could you have him pencil me in for winning the lottery tonight?

I heard a storm is forecast for today.

Rain just lightened up here – not so much a downpour as steady light rain – and the sky looks more white and less grey. This is, no doubt, because I decided not to go. The Phillies should thank me.

Way to nitpick for no reason, Evan.

Then you go ahead and tie in “God” with the lottery. Good work.

how about ryan howard. i dont think anyone expected him to carry an above .300, even if it is only 11 games. There has been a lot of credit thrown Ibanez’s way(which is well deserved), but how bout some love for the big man. As well as the hitting, his fielding has been immeasurably better. Hopefully, he keeps it up.

They should refund the parking. That is a disgrace. What I would love to see from baseball. Start the season May 1. Play only 130 games which is still alot. No reason to play in the cold weather. Thats not baseball.

The yanks-athletics game has been postponed. The game could get underway, but if there’s gonna be a delay at the start or during the game just cancel it, we play rest of the week just reschedule it for another day.

This is an old posting to mlb.com, but look in the middle of the second paragraph. I think it’s wrong to do it this way when the weather is obviously bad, and yes, the last paragraph seems to contradict the second paragraph:

    Phillies 2006 Rain Policy
The Phillies, adhering to Major League Baseball guidelines, make every possible effort to play games on the scheduled dates.

Many factors are taken into consideration when there is potential for a game to be canceled (such as rescheduling, team travel plans, etc.). Since it’s the Phillies desire to play every game at its original time and date, ************postponement decisions are not usually made until gametime at the earliest (special, extenuating circumstances may dictate otherwise). Fans are encouraged to arrive as planned.***********

Again, the Phillies will make every effort to play the games on the scheduled date. If a decision has been made to cancel a game, phillies.com will report this as soon as possible.

Reporting a decision to cancel a game on Phillies.com “as soon as possible” doesn’t help much if it’s past start time and you are already at the game.

Hope they don’t show that memorial service tonight to fill in time. I cried like a baby when they played bridge over troubled water and each player touch his casket.
