Atlanta Braves (2-0) at Philadelphia Phillies (0-2)
Javier Vazquez vs. Joe Blanton
Time: 3:05 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
Weather: Mostly sunny, 50
TV: Comcast SportsNet
Twitter: Phillies Nation
It’s April, which means the Phillies are at the bottom of the National League East. That luck can start to change today, however, as Joe Blanton makes his first 2009 start against the Braves. Blanton hasn’t lost as a Phillie, going 4-0 in the regular season and 2-0 in the postseason.
Javier Vazquez makes his first Atlanta start. The right-hander went 12-16 with a 4.67 ERA last season for the White Sox.
As mentioned before, the Phillies bullpen is perfect in 2009. They’ve thrown seven innings without giving up one hit or walk. The pitchers who’ve done the damage: Chan Ho Park, Clay Condrey, Jack Taschner, Scott Eyre, Chad Durbin and Brad Lidge.
The Phillies are receiving their world champion rings before the game. We’ll have the photos.
Your gameday beer: Back to Dogfish, since I’m such a big fan. Their Aprihop is out right now. It’s a smooth spring brew with the pungent flavor of apricots dancing about. But this won’t make you feel fruity – on the contrary, the taste is just sweet enough to be recognizable, but not overpowering. It’s a little strong, so it’s perfect on this dreary, cold, almost snowy day. Eat a salad with it.
Go Phillies!

Wow, just got home. The last thing I saw was Durbin walk in a run. Absolutely crazy shit. Can’t wait to watch that inning on MLB.tv.

Willie Mayes Hayes is the only one who can’t hit or draw the walk from this bullpen.

Joe Blanton STILL doesn’t have a loss in a Phillies uniform.

Awww man…what the HECK happened?
I left work, 903, I get off the train and come home – 11-10 Phils Madson was in the game….so the phillies got a few hits together and then the braves bullpen Blew up and walked in a bunch of runs???
that was WIERD. the offense woke up at least…so thats reassuring AND an eery repeat of last years opening series…very similar…

Cole went and stopped at the 7-11…the “ace” 7runs ….11 hits 3 and 2/3′s well his wife will have do something about this we won’t stand for. Boys it ain’t looking good for Brad hows he gonna get some of the so called really tuff hard fought saves….look out of the one’s he got last year half were kinda “given” …look at the stats. Whats the Midday guys gonna say now …oh I know it was his first start …jitters….too cold….too hot….panties were too tight …..how about a few teams got his number…now there’s a thought…the phillies need pitching really bad no REAL BAD…the offense will be there but Moyer, Blanton,Meyers, I don’t think its gonna get any better anytime soon. WIP will have a good time trying to cure the taste of the Might “mouse” Cole Hammels loss. fanman
