Philadelphia Phillies (7-8) at Florida Marlins (11-5)
Chan Ho Park (0-0, 8.68 ERA) vs. Chris Volstad (2-0, 2.76 ERA)

Seriously, who saw that coming?

After the Phillies practically flatlined against the Brewers Thursday, they repeated that effort Friday. Then in the ninth, one run became another run, and that became a grand slam by Shane Victorino to hand the Phils an improbable 7-3 win over the Marlins. They are now 3.5 games out of first place.

Now the Phils face Chris Volstad, another good young starter with strong numbers in 2009. He hasn’t faced Phillie hitters too much, but of the experience, Chase Utley is striking at a .400 clip with a home run, and Lou Marson is actually 3-for-8 against him, all in the minors.

Chan Ho Park gets the ball for the Phils. He’s coming off a better second start, but still must perform better after winning the fifth-starter role. Florida hitters have struck him well, in limited action. Hanley Ramirez has a home run against Park.

Your gamenight beer: Who wants Sierra Nevada? I do. And I want an Extra Special Ale from the SN crew. This floral concoction is best for March and April, when the trees are sprouting with green and the sun is peeking out of the clouds. Today is a true spring-summer day, but welcome in the beautiful weather with this drink. Eat some wings with this.

Walk….bad bad bad from Lidge. Lidge has totally lost command of his fastball. Dubee out to the plate for a meeting. Cody Ross at the plate with bases juiced.

NICE… Lidge strikes out Ross and Ross loses his bat in the process. what a nail biter.

NICE! Slider caused him to throw his bat on the follow-through. Huge save from Lidge. He needed that one…

Lidge strikes out the side but gives up a 2 out double and 2 walks before striking out Ross after Ross hit a foul home run. I’ll take it!

Well it wasn’t pretty boys, but they need the wins, keep starting Marson and get Coste ready to make the trip to Lehigh soon when Ruiz is ready!!

Just need those bats woken up a little earlier at least we didn.t need to wait till the ninth to get all the runs:)

That is the funniest ending I’ve ever seen… his bat almost made it to the OF. Talk about embarassment.

Seriously though… why would Charlie argue to get kicked out there? That’s not going to calm your closer down and I don’t think that Lidge needs any more fire.

Lidge needs to have no one on or the bases loaded otherwise he doesn’t feel comfortable throwing that hard slider right now (without Ruiz). That’s why I said he needs to focus on 1-2-3. A win is a win but he’s throwing too many pitches.

Anyone else stopped breathing for a second there?

Yeah, after that 2nd walk, I was pretty nervous there.

Chuck P…ironically i just said the same thing to my fiancee during the game…i think Ruiz catching for him…makes him feel much more at easy when he is on the mound…

Coste did a great job blocking those nasty sliders in the dirt. Good work Coste and Lidge is thankful as well.
