This team, more so than any other I have seen, plays with so much heart and conviction - do or die mentallity! It is unbelievable. It is to the point where I am beginning to think that if the Phillies are losing it is a good thing: "Oh, we will just wait until the 7th inning to mount a come from behind win".In 2007 I walked out of a Phillies vs. Mets game in the 7th inning: Phillies were winning 8-5. By the time I got in my car, they were losing 9-8. I went to my local watering hole to finish watching the game with my baseball buds. The Phillies won the game 11-10 in extra innings. From that day forward I vowed never again to leave a Phillies game!!!Go Phillies!!!!!!!

Never, ever in a million years could I ever turn off or leave a Phillies game early. He was in the field, and also came up with some pretty clutch hits at times to help win the WS, but you are acting like Phillies Phans have forgotten about Burrell. The point in these comparisons is simply most (not all) were PISSED when Burrell left, and Ibanez came into town. I recall the first week after the signing was VERY HARSH against Ibanez, but he has come through HUGE for the Phightin Phils, and honestly from a life long Phillies Phan, and a Burrell fan during his time here, to me, comparing the two, and being impressed with Ibanez, and saying he has been more clutch is a testament to Ibanez skill and clutch hitting.

Greg B, there is nothing wrong with the Ibanez/Burrell comparisons. One of the funnest games that I've ever been to... falling behind WS Game 5 and the 2008 NLE clincher... it was electric when Howard hit the first Grand Slam. Of course, there were many fans that left early... thankfully, I stayed and it was sheer madness after Ibanez hit the second grand slam. People jumping around, throwing stuff. I can only imagine what it would have been like if all 41,000 had stayed. There was a slight wind blowing out to centerfield and the ball was carrying in a big way... some of those shots were MONSTER HR's. There was a mile's worth of homeruns and NEAR homeruns last night. I was wondering why Lidge wasn't in the game... the knee thing is a huge concern because we need him. Our pen is under stress right now and we can't go without any of these guys.Ibanez is one miraculous catch or homerun away from being mayor of Philadelphia.

Bask in my glory… I was at the game. Phillies Nation got a chance to meet Raul and his family in Clearwater, what a class act and a a hell of a hitter. Don't forget to vote him in the All-star game.

Raul will own this town by the 4th of July.<br

Talk about a team with confidence and a never ending will to win - Geeze! Ibanez is a beast! He has impressed the heck out of me.I absolutely hate Chris Wheeler! He is the most dreadful and annoying annoucer that I have ever heard! All that I could do during the game was think of Harry the K, and how he would have called that game. I think from now on I am going to have the HD on and listen to the radio to hear game called by Scott and LA. Someone please sh!t-can that POS Chris Wheeler!!!!!!GO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic win! Very exciting right through til the end. And of course the big guy and Raul being clutch was awsome. Lets just hope we don't need 13 runs all series, a nice 5 2 win tomarrow for the Phils would be nice.

finally JRoll had a good offensive game maybe he will pull out of his slump, a bloop double can do that some times, patiants at the plate and timly hitting by the lead off guy nice to see, and Pete Happy with some nice at bats coming off the bench on his bithday. Not to take anything away from yet another thrilling come from behind win (9th time they accomplished it), but it also helps to have an opponent like the hapless Nats. ;-)Also one could say the quality of pitching is spread so thin among 30 MLB teams. In the last 50 years of expansion, a total of 14 teams have been added. The last expansion came in 1998 with two new additions: Arizona in the NL and Tampa Bay in the AL. However, the one crucial factor that has been noted by several baseball historians, is when MLB voted in 1968 to lower the pitching mound from 16 inches to 10 inches. Prior to 1968, pitchers in general had the upper hand with low ERA's and runs allowed. All that changed after 1968. Soon it became evident as MLB kingdom had hoped when runs and batting averages significantly rose to levels that have not been seen for decades. And of course, it helped boost attendance in many parks. It's late and I'm cutting short the history lesson. :-)

Georgie, it’s all of the above. What has happened to the fine art of pitching? Is it the smaller parks? Are the hitters better? Its obviously easy to do given the situation, but they are two different players. There's too much "oh, Burrell wouldn't have done that" in my opinion. Ibanez has been great, but lets not forget the Holy Diver's irreplaceable contributions to get that elusive WS ring.I thought Franzke and Larry's call was pretty good. They were so excited they could barely describe it.Whatta W., but I'm starting to worry about the pitching. Almost a month in and we're pushing a 6 team ERA. We've yet to hold the Nats to less than 8 runs in three games. Here's hoping for a big start from Hamels to cool down those Washington bats.

We should all stop with the Ibanez/Burrell comparisons.
