In 2007 I walked out of a Phillies vs. Mets game in the 7th inning: Phillies were winning 8-5. By the time I got in my car, they were losing 9-8. I went to my local watering hole to finish watching the game with my baseball buds. The Phillies won the game 11-10 in extra innings. From that day forward I vowed never again to leave a Phillies game!!!

I absolutely hate Chris Wheeler! He is the most dreadful and annoying annoucer that I have ever heard! All that I could do during the game was think of Harry the K, and how he would have called that game. I think from now on I am going to have the HD on and listen to the radio to hear game called by Scott and LA. Someone please sh!t-can that POS Chris Wheeler!!!!!!

Also one could say the quality of pitching is spread so thin among 30 MLB teams. In the last 50 years of expansion, a total of 14 teams have been added. The last expansion came in 1998 with two new additions: Arizona in the NL and Tampa Bay in the AL. However, the one crucial factor that has been noted by several baseball historians, is when MLB voted in 1968 to lower the pitching mound from 16 inches to 10 inches. Prior to 1968, pitchers in general had the upper hand with low ERA’s and runs allowed. All that changed after 1968. Soon it became evident as MLB kingdom had hoped when runs and batting averages significantly rose to levels that have not been seen for decades. And of course, it helped boost attendance in many parks.

Whatta W., but I’m starting to worry about the pitching. Almost a month in and we’re pushing a 6 team ERA. We’ve yet to hold the Nats to less than 8 runs in three games. Here’s hoping for a big start from Hamels to cool down those Washington bats.
