He was the voice that told me that the warm nights were coming, and he made it so that even if I wasn’t at the ballpark, I felt like I was still there when he was calling the game.
Harry, you made it more than a game. It was an integral part of my life, to hear it how you told it.
Thank you for so many great memories. If a place in heaven is assured for those who made others happy, yours is a lead-pipe cinch, Harry.

I will never forget that call, and there is no one better to have called that moment. I think I will miss him just as much in NFL Films as I grew up loving all of those NFL Films tributes, and his voice was what made it all. RIP Harry, we will always hear your voice.

I always respected Harry’s greatness until last year when his attacks against the Mets became a little too personal. Although I will stand when a moment of silence is requested tonight at Citi Field, I will be thinking of one thing: “See ya, New York”. Not this year, Harry

I grew up doing my homework to his voice in the 70′s…this voice painted the image in my mind…better than HD!

WOW! I am in stunned disbelief,I never saw this coming.Even as a Mets fan,this shook me to the core.I know there is no best case scenerio in death,but the best case was,he died doing what he loved,there for the Phightin Phils to call a game.Harry Kalas is to the Phillies what Bob Murphy is to my Amazins.God Bless You Harry.

I pulled over in my car when I heard. I can’t say how sad this is to me. I’m still in shock. Harry was my connection to the Phils. I grew up in VA and my only access to the Phils was a static 1210 filled with Harry’s voice.
Harry’s my all-time favorite Philly. I can’t imagine his voice is gone. My 3 year old imitates him. Harry’s the best there ever was or ever will be. Hard to believe…..

Every game just will not be the same. There was nothing like watching a Phillies game in the summer time to Harry, absolutely nothing. No one can replace him, and the Phillies organization will have a permanant void.
You will be missed, and never forgotten.

I was 10 years old when Harry Kalas started with the Phillies. I always considered Harry the “new guy” for at least the next ten years or so. I cannot imagine never hearing his great baritone voice again. While HK is irreplaceable, I would make one suggesstion. There is one other guy I can think of who could reach people on every street and neighborhood throughout the Delaware Valley, our own Governor. I think Ed Rendell would love the job; his second term is nearly over, he loves sports…. who knows.

I will never in my life forget that call, or Harry Kalas in general. I could only wish my daughter was old enough to appreciate his calls or understand what happened today. I can say in My household, April 13th will now and forever be Harry Kalas Day. A shot of scotch or whiskey is a requirement on this day, as well as a clip of Harry the K!

To me Harry Kalas was the voice of summer. When you went to family reunions at the Lake, Harry was there. When you laid down in the summer afternoon to take a nap, Harry was there. When you went to the local pool, Harry was there… He was as much a part of summer as was the sun, the grass and heat. Without you Harry the sun just won’t be as bright this year. I just thank God that he allowed Harry to finally make his WS final call last year since he never got to do it in ’80. Here’s to you Harry!

I was at game 5 of the World Series… when I made it to my car (a few hours later), I couldn’t wait to hear Harry call the final out.
Nothing can compare… there is nothing like turning on 610/1210 after a game to hear Harry call the plays that you watched throughout the game. He’s the only voice that I’ve ever known. I’m 26 years old and I don’t have Comcast so I listen to every game and Harry has become a part of my life. No matter what is going on around me, I can sit down and listen to a ballgame and feel at ease.
I teared up this morning on the way home from the gym listening to the replay of Scott Franzke signing off last night’s game.

I didn’t get to hear any of yesterday’s tributes.. or the sign-off, etc.. Game was over when I got home from work.
Anyone have a link to any of that stuff?
How about the players smoking a cigarette in honor of Harry before the game started last night.. Hard to Believe, Harry.
