As excited as I would me for Marson should he get the call up, I’m bummed because my wife and I are going to Coca-Cola Park tomorrow for the Iron Pigs game.

Usually with a rib cage injury (strain), especially for a catcher, means an extended time for recovery. The Phillies obviously are concerned and as precaution have apparently decided to call up Marson to fill in as temporary backup relief. Coste will get the lion’s share of the work as needed.

Interesting comment made by Manual regarding Hamel’s poor outing:
“Remember, he didn’t throw a lot in spring training,” Manuel said. “He still needs work and he’s not real strong at the moment.”

Manuel hinted that Hamels might even miss his next start.

“We will find out in five days,” Manuel said. “He’s not right. He’s not there. I’ll talk to (pitching coach Rich) Dubee and I’ll talk to Cole.”

As I posted yesterday, I felt Hamels would not have a solid performance for the same obvious reasons Manuel commented. I kept my expectations yesterday within reason in hopes he could go at least five innings and minimize any damage from ineffectiveness and keep the team in the game. Unfortunately, that didn’t happened.

Like I said, WELCOME TO THE SHOW KIDDO!!! (even though hes only like 2-3 years younger than me at the most)…

they might actually let him start, you never know, if he does and he does well…when ruiz gets back coste could be moved for a relief pitching prospect…

Just reading about this in the local paper. If Ruiz hits the DL they were saying Marson would become the everyday catcher. My local paper, the Morning Call, doesn’t always have the best facts though. It would make an interesting scenario though.
