Odds And Ends, Posts
Obviously it was a decidedly slow news day Tuesday in Phillies Nation. Here is what we picked up:
- Because the Dolphins were scheduled a Monday night game Sept. 21 against the Colts at Dolphin Stadium, the Marlins have moved their Sept. 21 game against the Phillies to July 16.
- If you had to read just one Harry Kalas tribute (hopefully you read many), Bill Conlin’s piece about Harry took the cake. That’s because 1Chair was good friends with Harry moving up in the Phillie beat ranks. It’s written with the sense of a man whose sadness was overcome by fondness and reflection. Very touching.
- In the minors, Mike Stutes had an impressive Monday for the Reading Phillies. Mike Drago reports the 22-year-old (who was drafted last season) pitched five innings of two-hit ball, letting up those two hits in the sixth inning.

Stutes is a stud, could be a real find, or could be a flash in the pan I like him.

Stutes could be a guy that leapfrogs a lot of guys and may be ready sooner than initially thought. this is a guy that could be ready second half 2010-11 if he keeps up this pace. he was rtacking up the K’s last year.

He’s also a guy that came right out of college last year and performed. Unlike Savery he was always classified as a pitcher so there was little to no adjustment for him like there is for Savery.

It’s raining here in DC nonstop and it looks like it’ll stay like this all night. I have tickets for today’s game but I really, really doubt they’ll play tonight with this weather.

Did anyone hear about the potenial song for this Friday’s 7th inning Stretch?
They are talking about(on radio) the idea for singing “High Hopes”for the 7th inning stretch as opposed to “Take me Out to the Ball Game” I love the idea

Did some background on Stutes a while back. This kid was considered the best pitcher in Oregon at the high school level, seems to be no reason to think he isn’t going to vault up the prospect rankings with what he’s being dealing so far in his pro career.
