With heavy hearts, the Phillies offense blasted the Nationals enough to defeat them, 9-8, on the day of the Nationals home opener, and the day Harry Kalas passed away.
The Phils got home runs by Ryan Howard, Raul Ibanez and Shane Victorino, who pointed to the press box after his shot in the third inning.
Jamie Moyer surrendered four runs in six innings for the win. Clay Condrey battled through a two-run seventh, backed up by Scott Eyre. Ryan Madson pulled his changeup out of the bag for a strong eighth, and despite allowing a two-run home run, Brad Lidge secured his third save of the season.

good win today. did it for Harry. Classy move by Shane after hitting that home run. its going to be so strange not hearing Harry calling games from now on. RIP Harry, you were a true icon and will never be forgotten.

How come Harry Kalas isn’t awarded the Ashburn Award today?

Every time a Phillies player hit a home run today my heart broke. Man how much I miss the man already.

It was great to see Howard hit his first home run of the year, and Werth and Ibañez played really well. I was pleasantly surprised with a couple of very good defensive plays made by Ibañez in the LF.
As for pitching, I kinda expected Moyer to get hit so that wasn’t too bad. After Zimmerman hit that deep fly ball against Condrey, I KNEW that Dunn would homer… it was so easy to tell. And boom, big shot. Madson was really, really good. And Lidge had the Nats “fans” cheering and “being loud” for the first time in the game. A good win for our man Harry.
