Todd Zolecki reports (via Twitter) the Phillies waived Bobby Mosebach, who was then picked back up by the Angels. He was a Rule V draft pick, so the Angels had first dibs at reclaiming him.
That brings the bullpen battle for two down to three: JA Happ (almost a shoo-in), Jack Taschner and Gary Majewski.

I’m not sure why Koplove is out of it. He has pitched just better than Mawjeski in spring training and has decent career numbers.

I wonder why Tim thinks Happ is “almost a shoo-in” for the bullpen? There is nothing in his performance today in relief against the Yankees that would indicate a “shoo-in” for him. ;-)

I hope Happ goes to AAA. the bullpen is a different mindset.

Bruce: It’s been reported by multiple sources that Rich Dubee said Happ is almost a shoo-in. That’s why I “think” that.
Geez.

I think it would be wrong on so many levels to deny Happ a major league spot after his spring. He belongs with the Phils. He’s done all he can to earn the 5th rotation spot, just as Park did. Both deserve to be with the club.

Taschner and Happ for Phillies. Majewski, Koplove and Rodrigo Lopez in Triple A. Majewski gets called up and Happ gets demoted in June if Happ doesn’t get much action. About the bench situation cairo stays and don’t sign sheffield or andruw jones. Phils are very delicate about team chem. Bruntlett has been great this spring and we have great players in minors who if needed will deliver. Marson, Mayberry Jr., Ozuna, Donald, Ellison just to name a few. Last grapefruit league game tomorrow at bright house vs the nationals. Then friday and saturday on deck games vs the rays in which blanton and hamels start and then opening night on espn2 in philly. Brett Myers vs Derek Lowe on Sunday. Monday is off and then tuesday at 7pm Jamie Moyer vs Jair Jurrigens and then wednesday at 3pm when phils receive ws rings, joe blanton vs javier vasquez.

I agree with Tyler… with only 2 lefties in the starting rotation… it should be Hamels (L), Myers, Blanton, Moyer(L), Ho.. I guess they will leave Moyer as No.3 to show respect for the guy?

maybe to separate the lefties with Hamels starting out of the 5th spot to begin the season.
