Carlos Ruiz took batting practice on Monday, but felt discomfort in his strained right oblique. He was scratched from the Triple-A IronPigs lineup.
Ruiz was eligible to come off the disabled list on Sunday, but he continued to rehabbing, catching nine innings with the IronPigs.
Ruiz will be re-evaluated on Tuesday.

As Charlie Manual commented after Ruiz’s injury was confirmed, a rib cage strain is difficult in determining length of recovery time. It depends on the severity of injury and the player’s capability to recover. By the very nature of his role as catcher, Ruiz’s road to complete recovery is more difficult. So it’s no surprise that he suffered a setback.

I’m sad to see Ruiz hurt, but the way Marson is playing….I dunno if I want to see Ruiz back…Marson is playing like an everyday starter, IMO. All I have in my head is “Ruiz The Double Play Machine.”
