Florida Marlins (21-25) at Philadelphia Phillies (24-19)
Andrew Miller (1-1, 4.94 ERA) vs. Joe Blanton (2-3, 7.11 ERA)
Time: 7:05 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
Weather: Cloudy, 56
TV: Comcast SportsNet

A tough homecoming for the Phillies last night, but tonight is a new chance to grab the golden ring. Joe Blanton has the task against the Marlins at a potentially damp Citizens Bank Park.
Blanton was workmanlike for four innings Thursday against Cincinnati, but the fifth inning became a mess of problems. A Brandon Phillips home run did Blanton in, ending his night after five. He’s hoping to get his ERA back below seven and maybe to a season-best number – anything below 6.82. And he’ll get to do it against a group of players he hasn’t faced much. Most is Jorge Cantu, who is only .231 against Blanton.
The Phillies will stare down young Andrew Miller, of whom they’ve not taken advantage. His last start against the Phils was an eight-inning, seven-strikeout performance on June 11. Since, he made a few relief appearances against the Phils with one tough outing. Shane Victorino has hit him well (.455 AVG, 2 HR).
That’s good news for Vic, who was struggling in May but quietly climbing back to normalcy. His average sits at .270, thanks mostly to his good weekend in the Bronx.
Your gamenight beer: Bitter with fruity smell and golden appearance, Staropramen Lager is a Czech pilsner with international flavor. With its low alcohol content (5 percent), it’s perfect for a rainy night such as this. Even if there is no game, you can enjoy a few of these and move on with your night. Enjoy this with a good bowl of chicken noodle soup.
Go Phillies!

No offense Tim, but beer and chicken soup sounds disgusting! Its a good beer though but Id say enjoy it with some shrimp, red pepper, and pineapple kabobs on the grill. Rain be damned!

Anyone know if Victorino is playing after his failed 9th inning steal?

I’m really liking the Weyerbacher and Victory Brewing company beers. Some really good ones. Golden Monkey sneaks up on you and wham. I also really like the Duvel Golden Pale Ale.

I read the following report where Blanton believes he discovered ” a slight mechanical flaw” in his delivery:
“..And after watching video over the past four days, he detected a slight mechanical flaw that he believes he’ll have corrected before he faces the Florida Marlins on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park. “Out of the stretch, I wasn’t allowing my arm to follow through, and it was leaving the ball more over the plate,” said Blanton, 2-3 with a 7.11 ERA. “My fastball was not as crisp. It’s a little thing, but it makes a big difference. With this little adjustment, hopefully that will be the cure.”
Hoping Blanton pitches well tonight.

That adjustment alone should allow his fastball more movement; if anything, it allows it to land on the lower half of the zone, inducing more grounders. Could limit his home run totals a bit.
That would bring him back to normal.

“Staropramen is good beer if you have… what is the opposite of diarrhea? Constipation. If you have constipation and want it to stop, Staropramen is good beer.” A Czech once said that to me. I laughed for five minutes straight. And later that night found out it was true. It does taste great though.
Here’s hoping we get a good outing out of Joe and Two Thirds tonight.

I’m pulling for Big Joe but I am not going to lie. There is a part of me that wants the Phillies to spot the Fish 3 runs and start the game in the 7th inning!

We’re gonna win
Don’t wanna be a loser – gonna win
Cuz winnin’ really is the only thing
Get out of the way we’re comin’ in
If ya wanna fight just step inside the ring
Does anybody wanna take a swing?
It’s gotta be all or nothing
Oh we’re gonna be the champions
Ya we’re goin’ all the way – we’re gonna win win

Hey Andrew. What good is it to start spreading crap like that as if it were fact? We can all have our stupid opinions but when it comes to “representin’”, well Homey don’t play that. Whats your brother’s friends name by that way?

I know Hollywood….ever since that dumb poll listed him as being underrated he has taken a s**t on his batting average and really his overall play is just terrible right now. Besides the throw on Sunday I can’t think of one positive thing he has done in the last week. I can’t even remember a hit other than the bomb against Burnett where A.J. missed his spot by about 3 feet.

Andrew, that’s completely ridiculous. Lee’s the reigning Cy Young and is carrying a 3.04 ERA for a horrible Indians team in the American League. Carrasco hasn’t thrown a major league pitch.

The Mets are well on their way to another win against the hopeless Nats. We gotta score some more runs and nail this one down.
Please Blanton….no 5 spot in the 5th this time.

Tim I think someone was just making fun of the original post and using Andrews name to create another one…unless I’m reading the sarcasm incorrectly.

Another high pitch count….70+ through 4. Looks like we may only be seeing Country Joe for 6 tonight. At least Chan Ho saved the pen last night.
