Gameday 2009, Posts
Washington Nationals (13-33) at Philadelphia Phillies (25-20)
Ross Detwiler (0-0, 2.45 ERA) vs. JA Happ (2-0, 2.60 ERA)
Time: 7:05 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
Weather: Possible thunderstorms, 77
TV: Comcast SportsNet
Twitter: Phillies Nation
So the last one didn’t end well, did it?
Brett Myers might be lost for the season after a bad start against the Marlins and another series loss at home for the Phillies. Now good friends the Nationals come in for a weekend set. JA Happ will try and continue his strong pitching tonight against fellow youngster Ross Detwiler.
Your gamenight beer: Pete’s Brown Ale is a beer from the Bear Republic Beer Co. in California. It’s made with molasses and brown sugar, so it’s bitter, slow and thick. Eat a steak with a sweet potato with this one.
Go Phillies!

Hard to say that Manny without having seen what Jenkins can do. Clearly it wasn’t that bad of a move since no one else picked him up. Werth is going through a slump right now. Not to mention he is a 270 hitter. That’s just who he is. Gotta accept it.

I remember a time when I didn’t cringe at the entrance of Lidge. I miss that time…

why was releasing jenkins a bad move, its not like he is tearing it up anywhere, because he is sitting at home watching baseball cuz not even the nationals, giants or any other really bad offensive team will sign him.

OK, one down, two to go.

Cause we never gave him a second chance… and we knew Werth is an unproven everyday player. A little platoon every now and then (once or twice a week) wouldn’t hurt.

well it doesnt mean we needed to keep jenkins, i am fine with giving him a day off every now and then, with stairs being the guy he platoons with but that wasnt going to happen tonight cuz lefthander starting. I would actually compare Werth to alot like Burrell with that when they were both hot they are going to hit but when they are cold they are going ot be really bad, but i think werths cold spells wont be as bad as burrells, and i predict that if everything continues with michael taylor and dominic brown in the minors werth will be gone by next year anyway
Also in a poll among MLB mangers he was voted as the most underrated players in the baseball, he tied with Adrian Gonzalez, so obviously people in baseball think high of him
