By the way, didn’t Condrey retire the side on 5 pitches? Can’t run him out there for one more inning?

If Happ gets a W he needs to be in the rotation. If he gets an L he needs to be in the rotation and just suck it up. he should NOT be out there.

Whose day was it tomorrow to start Happ – or was he just using a 6th starter?

Nats don’t have anyone left in the pen. Phils only have Happ/Taschner – and we all know how much everyone here loves Taschner!! If Jack goes in right now and he blows the game; everyone’s all over him anyway.
Maybe, just maybe the Phils, a professional organization with a CHAMPIONSHIP last year – knows what they’re doing, maybe?? They can get a few solid innings out of Happ who is PROVEN in relief; Nats meanwhile are at the end of their line for pitching, unless they want to throw in a starter. they’re not messing with Happ, if anything they’re slighting Taschner. Phils are doing what they can to win this game and pick up the pieces from Lidge.
Nats ALWAYS play the Phils hard. They lose a lot, but it’s not like they don’t have a decent line-up.
The comments alone on this blog make me not want to come here, ever again. Ye of little faith …

well SC, we’d have to fly you up….nah. the phils are a little stingy. i do agree that youre probably as good as kk.
kk cant get out left handed hitters and the nats have some good lefthanded bats.
id be happy with any non-kk alternative.

its ok man…so…kendrick carpenter or stutes….
i say stutes. most upside. an early spot start wouldnt ruin him…whats the harm? its one start.

Kendrick started on the 11th and hasn’t pitched since then… Carrasco pitched on the 12th… Carpenter’s start was scratched Thursday and no official word was given. It seems like it’s either Carpenter or Kendrick.

You are all probably right…Its probably Kyle. If he gets lit up (entirely possible)…you will see a lot of Traschner.

Discussion point: Is Happ MORE valuable in the pen than in the starting rotation? With the propensity of this team’s starters to have a clunker once or twice out of five days (roll the dice as to who that will be any given time through the five), combined with the offense’s inability to hit other team’s starters and smack around their bullpens, is it more valuable to have two guys (Happ and Condrey) who can keep you in the game until your offense catches up?

Pete, I think we have to put Happ in the rotation. I’m leaning toward bouncing Moyer into some type of mop up role or the face-saving DL. And I’m a huge Moyer fan. On his best day he gives us 6 innings and 3 earned runs. On his worse day, so much less.
